Well, if it wasn't intentional, it's still a good reminder that even the best, and strongest car, can not save you if you don't wear your seatbelt...
Have fun in your car, but be safe!

Yes. And who knows. We will find out more as soon as we can. All I think we all can say is, what a f-ing shame, the loss of a good man and a good car and so so totally unnecessary. For me, I have made many mistakes and some might have led to my death. I was literally shaking this morning after reading Larry's name on that report, because I knew him, and because I could see my own name there. Larry was no different from us, there was a momentary lapse of SOMETHING and now we are sitting here typing his name. Yes. It makes you think. I remember driving my Mazda as a kid at 90mph feeling how dangerous it was. These days 90 is nothing.

Thanks for posting this Heinrich. I'm stunned by this loss and please pass on condolences from myself and Chris if you get a chance to see his (I think) daughter. We remembered when he was at our place this summer with others from the Heckowee tour and later went for pizza and burgers. He was a really good guy.

Well put, Adam, Larry was a great guy.

He was outwardly one of the most laid back people you could know, always pleasant to be around, and very lighthearted.
He was not a "car guy", but he loved his 928. It was his gift to himself after his separation from his wife. He really loved everything about the car, and like a good 928 owner drove it often, many times on long trips. I really admired the fact that he owned a 928 because he loved the look, the sound, and how it made him feel when he drove it, and he didn't care that he didn't know how to work on it. For me, if looking under the hood was a mystery I probably wouldn't own one of these cars. For Larry, he was truly smitten. A true 928 enthusiast to the core.
He was an active participant of the PacNW group, a joy to be around, and will be sorely missed.

I'm still trying to make the connection - was Larry an attorney? The name sounds so familiar, and while he's not in my customer database, I think he might have been a customer of mine before I had the current system and got more organized.

Heinrich,
THANK YOU for passing this sad news on to the rest of us on Rennlist. I did not know Larry personally, but had a business transaction with him. He bought a part from my totaled car (hit by the semi-trailer truck 11 1/2 months ago). The part was in perfect working condition when I shipped it, but was not satisfactory when he installed it about 3-4 months later. Apparently damaged in shipping, but too late to collect on insurance. We worked together to reach an equitable "cash" solution to an unstisfactory situation, and I was impressed with his fairness in the communications and resolution. SO SORRY to hear of the crash and his demise. As you said - it coulda' been me, so easily on many occasions (except I have always worn a seat belt, for 49 years now, since I installed a set of lap belts in my 1950 Mercury).
Sadly,

My Condolences to his family & friends. Alcohol, high speed & no seatbelt many times add up to tragedy. Only takes such bad judgement once & a split second, then its too late. Even a familiar turn or stretch of road becomes too much of a challenge to negotiate & survive. Wow, think I'll definately slow down today. Sorry to hear of this happening to a fellow 928 owner & the loss of your friend Heinrich.

This is sad news.
I know I push the limits at times and as a few have already said, that could be my name in the news.
I have 3 children ages 10, 7 and 4 and could not imagine not being there for them.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Perhaps a reality check for us all, I know it is for me.

Hienrich,
I am in shock and it is hard to believe such things can really happen to someone you know. Jeannie and I have enjoyed speaking with Larry since 2002 and we both are speechless.
Please give our condolences to Larry's family and friends as we have all truly lost one of the "good guys".
