Default Interest in 928 articles in porsche magazines

I have a library of 911 Porsche World, Excellence, as well as other magazines that have through the years produced some pretty good articles on the 928.

I am willing to scan these, as back issues can be expensive to collect as i rightly know. But where could i post these if there is an interest to read them? Any suggestions. Maybe I could scan them and someone could put together some type of page thats easy to navigate to see articles and stories on these cars.

If you have any ideas please let me know.

ahh i have no idea i had such a thing, would 200 MB hold 50 plus pages of scanned magazine articles? Thats 4M per page i am sure a page is less then that come to think of it. I was kinda hoping to scan a bunch of stuff and send someone a file that knows about web layout and have them post it all.

if anyone is interested let me know and i will start scanning

There might be a problem posting anything with a copyright (that's not yours) on the rennlist servers.

well honestly there dosent seem to be much interest in this, i dont think i will go through the time to do all the scanning if just a couple people want access to the articles. I was thinking people would be interested in not only test drives of the period but also buyers guides, how to articles and so on and so forth.

I'd love to see some of them. I keep browsing e-bay and picking up the originals here and there to keep in the 928 folder. They seem to be few and far between.

Ryan,

I'll bet there would actually be a LOT of interest. I'm sure there are a number of interesting 928 articles from over the years that people don't even know exist. For example, I found a couple of issues of Christophorous (sp.?) a while back on ebay, one on the introduction of the GT, and one about a GT lapping Nurburgring... both very cool to read.

As George mentioned though, don't know if there would be any copyright issues since back copies of both Excellence and 911 & Porsche World are still available.

Rick

yeah good point about the copyright as back issues as they are still widley available.

I have an Excellence article on the then new 928 GT, i would love to see the ones you have as well, they are hard to come by. Although there is that book of road tests available, or it was available, i think its now out of print as i saw a copy on Ebay some time ago for $100.

I have a think for collecting magazines, i hold onto them as my tastes change and when they do, as they recently have to a different model Porsche, i find i have a ton of material on them already in my bookcases. The good thing is that now when i need to look back, i dont need to bother with back issues, i have only to look to my porsche library.

Ryan,
I have somewhat of a collection myself... mostly favorite exotic cars, old Road & Track GT Guides, etc... my wife keeps wanting me to throw them out! But it is nice to look back through them and read descriptions and road tests of the then new cars.

I'm pretty sure there are a few 928 road test collections still available from Road & Track and Brooklands. I know Nicole had some at Sharktoberfest.

It would be really cool if there was a listing/index somewhere of all the 928 articles that have been published... but that would be a HUGE undertaking... unless someone started a list, and people were able to add to it with magazine articles they knew about...

If you only scan the 928 articles in 911 & Porsche World it won't take long at all :-)

I would love to see the one with Devore's engine, do you have it? I have a couple of car magazine tests from 85 and 87 scanned that I'd be glad to share.

Another lister interested in seeing the write ups. I try to pick up all the newer stuff but jut don't have the time to seek out the older articles. If you can find a way I'm sure many would truly appreciate it.
