If someone has a very well preserved car, with good wires, no corrosion or issues such as that, the Shark tuner seems like it would be an A+ solution to modifications. It lets you keep everything, and swap out injectors.

If the engine is being taken out for modification, if the mail design parameters of the engine are changing, such as a stroker, a bored engine, super duper headwork, etc, and you are going to have another car to drive while you do all this, then I do think the Megasquirt idea is a good one. It woukd replace everything, the MAF, the ignition parts, etc.

They advance every month, and what I purchased 2 years ago is now basically old news. But the user base is such that there is always support for every car because the group is so generalized.

That said, if I had an 87+ car right now, and wanted to modifiy it, I would not think twice about the ST.

No, SharkTuner for 85/86 US or 84/86 Euro is not available yet..... we are working on it but don't hold your breath.....this will take some time.

Choice of engine management system is of course a personal choice. The ST has been successfully applied to s/c as well as stroker 928s.
