Hi Dr bob
I would be interested in some shark tunner time.

Jhon is there any chance of developing an entire new computer to replace the ezk and Lh or is the cost to prohibitive? I was trying to get to your site last week have you got things straightened out I have a LH that needs some repair.
Thanks Chris

Hi Bob, there's your first justification :-)

Hi Chris,
It is not cost effective to replace the LH and EZK. With the ST they are prefectly capable of being reprogrammed for any of the 928 applications that have come up so far.

There have been problems with my website hosting, which I am addressing.

Please PM me about your LH.

A completely new, reliable website will be running in a couiple of weeks time.

john, i think there is a market for an onboard version of the sharktuner - permanently interfaced giving user programability on the move in real time! since sharktuning i have regained my flappy but im wondering now whether some of the advance we put in through the midrange might not be too much and i cant alter that now. also i was looking at some headers day before yesterday and to optimise there effect i would need to sharktune again i know its all good in the greater scheme of things and its only a question of some horsepower or more... anyway i need to collect bits and pieces for my supercharger firstly.

It's a custom widebody conversion by Koenig. Very rare, no longer available (as far as I know), and absolutely incredible looking.

I think the Megasquirt is not so easy to adapt to the 928 except for an expert user. The car has to be substantially modified from standard to fit it.

If someone is very much a skilled electronics experimenter, then yes, it is an interesting alternative.

I would second that Idea, I think it could be very useful for some.

Nick, just curious, when you were shartuning, did you ever notice day to day changes with your mixture when using the same fuel map?

I'm still learning all this, but I have noticed slight mixture changes on some areas of one map that I optimized the day prior. I know engine temp plays a role, as well as a ton of other variables. Just courious what you have seen with your efforts.

Also, just discovered that my LH for this car had gone bad before, and never knew it. Found out it was not reading the WOT signal from the throttle switch, and thus was never getting WOT enrichment before.... (not too good on a s/c motor)

The datalogging feature of the ST showed this when I was trying to do WOT tuning runs.

Hey Bill. and or John
I remember you saying that your harness didnt have the diagnostics port to hook up the ST. You made your own plug and tapped in to the harness to do it correct?
I was wondering....Dariens car an 86.5 doesnt have the port either ( i dont think)....could a similar thing be done to his and or others??

bill, i spent about 3 hours with john doing each of the computers in turn on different days and overall it has been running pretty consistently since that time. the air fuel numbers that im seeing on my permanently installed gauge seem slightly to the rich side but not by much if anything of what we set with the sharktuner. i know john has mentioned these temporary episode thingies where the lh refers to a different map or something for a few seconds/minutes.. but overall the car runs really consistently. i think that when i get my blower installed i will want to take a bit longer than we did this time to get the maps just right, maybe with repeated sessions.

I just got my Shark Tuner connections sorted out today. I was having trouble with the Innovate LC-1 analog signal that feeds the A/F info to the SharkTuner. I have a couple of things to button up in the engine compartment, before I can go out and run the auto-tune on the street. I found that initial A/F numbers were actually quite lean..... in the 15-16:1 range. That surprized me because the exhaust smells rich. Anyway, hitting the AutoTune button is amazing, even only at idle. The A/F number settle to mid 14's quite quickly and the idle smooths right out. It wasn't BAD to start with, but it literally purrrrrrs with the auto-tune running. I can hardly wait to get out on the street......

Oh ya.......... snow is forcast for tomorrow!

Right, I discovered the engine harness came off a MY89, and for that year and later Porsche moved the diagnostic port from the engine harness to the "instruments and senders" harness. But of course, the rest of the car has 84 wiring. Only MY87 & 88 had the diagnostic port attached to the engine harness itself, and I don't think the earlier cars had a diag. port at all.

John,
Would the ST software work on Darien's 86.5?
