Exclamation So Cal machine shop suggestions? Valve job Gt heads?

I am curious if any of you so cal'ers can reccomend a good machine shop for a valve job on 928 4 valve heads. I figured someone had a reccomendation. I had contacted German Performance in central CA i believe, I had talked to the owner there about 911 stuff and he admitted that he didnt do many 944 or 928 heads but said he could. So i just figured ok what the hell, maybe i can find someone closer, where i wont have to try and package these heads and pay to ship them anyway, and find someone with some experience with these 4 valve heads.

Any suggestions, I am in the San Fernando valley and would prefer someplace close to me but I am willing to drive south 60+ miles if a place has a strong recomendation.

Jim B, you know everything related to 928's maybe you have a place you can recomend?

all suggestions are welcome, numbers would be good too but if you dont have them handy i can look them up.

Thanks Guys!

I too was wondering why you didn't place a quick call to 928 intl or Greg at Precision. I don't think greg does his own work but would point you in the right direction. I also hear Devek does that work :-0

Garrity - you have a machine ship in house?

Greg Brown has machine shop in house too?

Wow..very cool. Do both have flow benches also?

I am looking for a second supplier for head work....

Default In House Machine Shop

We do Marc. We have a complete CNC machine program and tooling for sleeve installation in the 928 blocks. 4.5L to 5.4L. We have also done many sets of 32v heads with S4 valves, and S4/Gt/GTS heads with larger 968 valves, with their attendant larger seats and of course porting to match. Our titanium valve heads use berylium/copper seats, which require very specific installation techniques and accuracy. So if you need a source just contact us.

Thanks

Greg Brown has the flow bench as well as a machine shop and is capable of doing just about any special project that needs doing. It is quite nice to see a successful professionaly run business like his. But I have known him now for nearly 20 years had him re do the engine in my daughter's Pantera and the reliability of the engines he has built for Mark Anderson's race car speaks for itself....

I did not know Mark had any headwork done to his engines at all. I thought the power gain from 400 to 500 was mostly the headers and intake.

Good to know.

".....he has built for Mark Anderson's race car speaks for itself"

I can only assume that the heads were done there, since the above statement implies that the heads are part of the engine build.

If they were done elsewhere, you would state that right?
