Paint ideas - Porsche race car photos
So I'm thinking about what color I want to eventually paint my 914, and I'm having a hard time finding good pictures of classic Porsche racers with good paint schemes and multiple colors and stuff like that. I can only seem to find solid colors with a ton of decals, and a few ugly ones.
It would be cool to see some pictures you guys might have of old 914 race cars, or really any good looking (paint wise) Porsche racers to help me with some ideas.
If you have a cool car you want to post with some neat paint job, go for it! I'd look at that too.
I need lots of ideas. Variety IS the spice of life, just don't tell your lady that.
This is the color I want to go with if I just do a solid color. Grabber Lime Green from a '71 Mustang.
Post away! Have fun!

Did you guys happen to miss the last line of his sig? PacNW 928????
Give the man some ideas instead of being smartass's.
If you like the green/black combo, it would sure stand out on a race track.
Go for it.

I am posting away and having fun..
I think that the light green is a bit bright for my taste. It would take the attention from the lines of a 914, maybe a darker green and some interesting graphics would be cooler. Unless you want to use the Cobra stripes like intended it would proably look cooler to have certain body parts in a different colour than the body.

I originally asked for help in the 914 forum, but its pretty dead there.
The mustang color caught my eye one day when I saw one of these parked in some driveway in Edmonds, and I had been trying to find the 'perfect' neon green. I think a bright 70s looking green would be great on that little car. The Mean Green Racer? I kinda like it :^).
Ignore the stripes and what-not, its just the color on that car I like. However, I'd probalby put the PORSCHE tape stripe on the lower portion of the car, like the Carerra RS' had and some 914s running around here.
There will be some decals for a more 'track' appearance as this car will spend most of its time on the track.
I just acquired probably 3 dozen cans of Spiess Hecker paint too, and haven't gone through and cataloged all the colors I now have, so maybe I'll find something in there too.
Any old racer photos or any racers at all? I don't care about taking away from the lines of the car at all, its a sardine can anyway

i tell you something and i am honest here
i think the mustang color looks like puke, it fits the pony well cuz they are puke.
now to your car. i think style would do it... a color scheme like chip foose would do it
silver.. blue or something like that with nice accents on the body
nothing fancy... just style and posh

I like the porsche "chartruse" lime green color, I saw it once on a 73 RS and decided thats the color for my next project car. I am sure its not too different from that Ford color

Mmm, can't do signal green...
The Kawasaki green was the first choice on green, then I saw the 'stang in person. The picture I posted is a more vibrant version.
Gulf cars are cool, I do happen to like those...
If I went with a blue like that, I'd do a powder blue. Saw that one a 'lister's 951 and it really grew on me...
Anything with the German colors on it?
