IMHO the floor needs some padding/soundproofing stuff, shaped to fit the stiffening channels, glued to the floor, and then a flat piece covering the whole area to provide a good surface for the carpets. My car came with what looked like 2 sets of carpets, slightly different- one had a clip on extra bit on the LH floor side up the pillar - maybe for first aid kit? The other was flat and had an open area on the side that exposed the toe board over the fuses. While I have the sill plates off (full repaint) I will see if I can make one piece carpets that fit neatly and stay in place....

Where do most people get their padding? By the sounds of things most carpets don't come with the rubber padding.

Not sure the origin or quality. I'll let you know if there are any markings when they arrive

The PO of my 928 went with SilverKnit. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. I don't care for the padding or how it covers the DME. SilverKnit uses a cheap thin cardboard backing.

Which pieces come with backing on the Sliverknit? Every floor piece?
