Has anyone ever converted their flat disc wheels into this type? They look to be made from the same forging, with some additional machining. Been thinking about doing this.

Interesting question, I have heard of it being done to create D90 design but can't provide evidence. I like the manhole but I also like D90s. Here is a pic of my GT as I like these wheels the most and I am conscious of the picture police

You *have* provided evidence The wheels pictured above are forged Slotted Disc (i.e. manhole) wheels that have been machined to look similar to Club Sport forged wheels. The 928 below is shod with cast D90 wheels.

Nope. The wheels fitted to my GT are definately forged CS type according to the numbers on the back. OP showed pics of forged slots and D90s. My wheels on the GT pic look slightly unusual as someone diamond cut the faces at some point (which also removed the eyebrows) I had them powder coated due to corrosion. I was interest in the OP's question as I had wondered the same as I am restoring an S2 which has slots but prefer D90s....sometimes..

No new pic with that post... do I hear the pitter-patter of little feet?

That explains why your CS wheels don’t look like CS wheels. It’s a shame someone made them look like machined manholes.

It has been done. I think machining flat disc wheels to look like something in between a CS and D90 is a fine idea.

Point of clarity - "manhole" wheels do have "eyebrows", so it is conceivable that enlarging the slots will result in a wheel looking just like a CS wheel on the face.
