OOPS! Looks like "I have trodden in a bucket"... Good to hear that the car survived and was re-born into such a great driving "enhanced" car. I also had an under-hood fire in my silver 90 GT while in my garage and it scared me to the core --- so I have experienced the anguish and re-birth cycle (drooman handled the bulk of the repairs).
I see the U-Boat in the upper right! Thanks!!! I'll add it to the collection!
Perhaps I should send it out to Greg for a stroker motor enhancement?
My car caught on fire 2 years ago because of a loose injector clip, not a fuel line. I was chasing a miss in the #8 injector and the nature of an 86.5 the clips are difficult. Greg Brown and crew at Precision Motorwerks in Orange CA painstakingly put the car back together. The interior was intact with no damage or odors. The car is a 5sp and now the motor is a 6.5 GB stroker. You can see it at Werks in Monterey
Voluntarily committed my '87 S4 into a treatment program, run by the caring folks @ PRECISION MOTORWERKS, to help it work through issues pertaining to abandonment & rat crap. Having been immersed in Dr. Greg Brown's tough-love restorative therapy since checking-in, it's obvious the car is regaining it's old spark. The healing has begun.
928 "healing" by GB & the Precision Motorwerks crew
Love, love, love! My interior is can can red, and had red carpet with the white piping on the seats like this. Not together yet, but new carpet is black like this and recovered seats have black piping, now because of this picture, I have the dilemma of having the steering wheel recovered in can can red or black?

^^^^^ CanCan Red or Black Steering Wheel Question ^^^^^
The cool factor of the CanCan Red is countered by the fact that the oils on your skin would ultimately discolor the wheel over time if the car is a driver.
That said, a lot of 928's are becoming "Garage Queens" and that would not be an issue.
My 89GT after 4 year standby after major gearbox problem. Now with rebuilt gearbox, new shocks, lots of new bushings and original carrera III wheels (got rid of crappy replicas).
