Almost ready to rock and roll
Nice list, Bill, and thanks for stepping up as one of our Subject Matter Experts. I've never met a group of Porsche enthusiasts I didn't like, and I'm sure we will have a lot of fun putting our Sharks into shape.
Thanks also for mentioning beer again. A case of Amstel Lite and a case of Stella Artois have been secured for the occasion. 8+ people say they will try to attend, but it is hard to estimate how many might have something else come up.
My wife picked up a few pounds of hamburger and buns that we can throw on the new grille she bought me for Father's Day. We can order pizza, etc. as needed and there are plenty of stores around if we need more beer, etc.
Can everyone send me a link to their favorite checklists and/or instructions so I can combine and print a comprehensive set for each car? I have several, but want to be thorough and we don't want to spend time waiting for printers Saturday morning if that can be avoided.
My email address is: Chris.Laughary@Adelphia.net

I'm getting there around 8am. Should be about 2+ hours from Charlottesville.
Bill, I had volunteered as a Subject Matter Expert, since I did my TB/WP a few months again. I think Chris got confused with all the "Bill's" showing up. I think we'll need name tags. See you Saturday.

Hey guys - just went and got my trailer - packing everything up this evening. One issue - the local Advanced Auto Parts did not have a 250 lb torque wrench - my largest wrench goes up to 75lbs, which won't be enough. Is anyone bringing one or do i need to go grab one from Home Depot? I can't say having another tool is a bad thing, but since this is a limited use item i hate to shell out the money if someone already is bringing one. See you all tomorrow!
Michael - I am planning on being at Chris's around 8 - I imagine that this job will take a while so I wanted to get an early start...

The event co-host, Dave, just called and told me he found one we can borrow free from a local parts store. They have 3 so we should be able to snag one of them in the morning.

Have fun, you guys. It seems you are very prepared. Just don't forget to say a few Hail Ferdies in the direction of Stuttgart and ask Andrew to light a candle at the 928 Shrine while meditating on the NBWPB chant (No Broken Water Pump Bolts).

It has begun
Dave picked up the big torque wrench and I have a 3/8" torque wrench we can use for other bolts.
Tonight we put his car in the air, drained the radiator, and pulled the fans. He is using all of the jack stands we had on hand so my car isn't started yet, but tomorrow he is going to Sears to pick up a set of 4.
By the way, we could not get the block drain plugs out and he felt one starting to strip so we're hoping we can leave the excess coolant in the block for the rest of the procedure.
We're moving pretty slowly and marked all the plug wires, etc. but tomorrow we expect this part of the job to go faster on my car.
The best part of Pirtle's instructions so far go something like this, "Attempt to remove the fan shroud with extreme conviction. You may have to loosen the oil coolant lines using a 1 1/4th" wrench and a 1 1/16th" inch wrench holding the..."
See you tomorrow. We have beer but my garage fridge is not cooling very well in this heat so it would be great if someone picks up a couple of bags of ice so we can throw the barley pop in my big cooler. You'll see my yellow 911 out front when you arrive, along with some temporary workbenches I set out for the occasion. We also have one sideless tent to setup over a car and a couple of box fans. Another tent is said to be arriving tomorrow.
928's to be worked on should line up in the driveway and other vehicles should line up along the street. Bring a camera if you have one handy. This may be quite a show.
If we're really nice to my wife she may make it through this weekend without making me pay, so thank her when you see her. My daughter's room is being left half painted while we do these TB jobs, but I'm already having a great time and this event has been planned far longer than the painting. I'm sure many of you are making personal sacrifices to make this a priority but the grins, mayhem, and sense of accomplishment will be worth it. Thanks, in advance, for your help, expertise, and... ...and ...and I'm obviously tired and need to go to sleep. See you tomorrow.
