I got tired of watching the sub-frame on my 928 get dented time-and-again by placing jackstands under it.
I designed a small steel sub-frame that you can mount to the car permanently, semi-permanently, or not-at-all - here is the description and prices if you are interested:

Brand-new item - not on our website yet, but it will be by the end of the week.
Have a Happy 928 4th of July!

Carl, that's a nice product. Can these also be used as a jacking point for the floor jack, and then use the factory jack points for jack stands? I like having the jack stands as close to the wheels as possible. See my jack stand adapters below. I had these fabricated so fit snugly over my 6-ton jackstands. The pin fits in the hole of the 928's jack pad.

I am interested in those. Just this week, I went to Discount Tire in SLC to have two tires mounted. When I walked out to watch them do the deed, I noticed they had placed jackstands forward of the rear jacking points on the frame rails just as you point out in your photos. I hit the ceiling and the language that followed prompted one tech to grab a fire extiguisher just in case. These would have helped. I also like to be able to jack at one point and place the jack stands on the jacking points and then move the jack to the next wheel. I use two jacks but the only other way I have figured to do this is to use the method devised in an earlier threas about 6 months ago that incorporates a beam between the front and rear jack points on one side, and then jack in the middle of the beam.

Ron-H: you're story reminds me why I painted mine red. In several race sanctioning bodies (SCCA for one) tow hooks and jack mounts are supposed to be identified by RED paint. I figured if the frame mount is red the mechanic might see it and recognisze it for what it is....
WDS928: of course you can reverse the two - and use these for the floor jack.
I expect the Cocours d' Elegance folks will use them un-mounted to just preserve the finish of their underbody.

Aiflite: I bought a 1991 GT so I could continue development of products into the later years and models.
BTW: for those that want to know, they weigh 1 pound each, 2 pounds for the pair.

Problem is.....
- not much room to work under the car with the jackstand in the way; at least Porsche put the front pads where they are out of the way.
- they're not jacking points if you want to place stands under them. The rear pads are for jacking to place jacks under the front pads
- no grease monkey is going to place the lift pads under them even if you paint them yellow and label them "lift here"

Yet shipping costs are $19.50?
UPS ground from us (53032) to WA is $19.50, to So Cal, its 15.50. And you haven't paid anything for the box, the tape, or the person to put it in the box, label it, and wrap it up.
Gas has gone up for UPS just like everybody else, you know.
