Default windows not working

My windows all of a sudden stopped working today. I checked the fuse, thats alright. How can i tell if the relay is bad? What else should I check to figure this out?

Pull relay VI. Jumper 30 to 87 in the plug (relay should have marking to indicate which is which). If one or both windows begin working, it is the relay. If both went at the same time it's likely the shared relay.

Hi even tho the fuse appears to be good i would replace it. Also look above the fuse panel for water leaking from the bottom of the blower box assembly, if water is leaking then you should see some signs of corrosion on some of the fasteners that hold the plastic grating above the fuse panel. you can pretty much count that the fuse/relay panel will start doing weird things , Stan

well I went to jump the relay and i figured i would try the windows again and they worked, what the hell? I don't see any kind of corrosion anywhere on or near the the fuse panel. Is it one of those electrical gremlins i've been hearing about.

The window relay in my '80 is a 5 pin type, with +12V switched alternately from 87a to 87b .... read 'alternately'! The '84 may have the same circuit, so you must check where to put the jumper - do not jumper 30 to both 87a & 87b simultaneously.
Both windows dead with a good fuse is the relay - they can be intermittant: Get a new one, for it will screw you again.
