(*sniff *sniff) I love you guys.

It was the inner side horn. Thanks to all of you who had constructive input, and to the rest of you wise crackers who made fun of me ...well, I still love you too!

...on my way out to Pep Boys to buy an AHH-OOOGA horn!

Keith,

I'd seriously check into an earlier 928 horn. I have a set out of an '84 Euro, and I love 'em. They have more of the "beep-beep" Road Runner tone the them. You need to do some minor mods to make them fit since they are the bell shaped horns, not the nautilus style of the later models, but all in all its an easy install.

I have to admit, the GTS's LACK in quality in the horn sound department. I should steal the horns off the 82 !

Actually a fellow SOCAL'er just sent me a PM and said PEP BOYS does have some good sounding EURO horns. I may take a trip down there today.

Hmmmm is right...maybe thats another "Did you know..." They may have change the horns from 93 to 94.

Jennifer always said that when I honked my horn (in the GTS), it sounded wimpy.

I ran down to Pep Boys late in the day just to see what they had. I ended up picking up a couple of loud horns "E" and "F"...total cost was about $40.00. perfect fit and they work awesome. nice and LOUD and has that Euro sound!

I am happy, this thread is done with questions answered. Thank you people of the universe!

Drove the GTS to pick up kid #1 tonight, sitting in a left turn only lane. Stupid inattentive woman in an Infiniti QX56 tank, across the intersection, goes straight through the intersection while only the left turn arrows were lit. I watched her start and not turn, so I had plenty of time to stop. But when I went to lay on the horns to wake her up, my horns were dead. Looking at this thread I see I have lots of options, especially since the PO did a rear wiper delete on the car, and I did a full alarmectomy on the car pre-engine install. Will update with the culprit if I ever find it. And perhaps find me some F'ing loud horns for the next time.

Rob--

There are a few things that can cause the no-horns problem. Start with the fuse, and if that's OK, work back and forth from the relay socket with your diagnosis. Bad horn(s) or connections downstream, bad connection to the steering wheel upstream. Both are ohm-meter tests from the relay socket so you don't have to rip into the wheel well area unnecessarily. Separate horn for the factory alarm, BTW, but no telling what a gung-ho aftermarket alarm installer might have done. Let me know if you need help.

This isn't so much for Rob, becaue I doubt he'd do this, but for other thrifty minded people out there...

On my '87 project car, the horns were pointed up and had standing water in them. Needless to say they were pretty toast. Very little sound came out even after they had dried out. So I took a gamble and bought a set of horns from Harbor Freight for $7.99. Put them in and they sound pretty much identical to the originals. Cool! Hopefully they last. At least they are pointed down now.

I've seen ads for the Hella Supertones in the back of car magazines for 30+ years, I think I'd have to go with them just to help recoup their advertising costs over all those years

Start with relay-relay-relay after maybe fuse-fuse-fuse. It's always possible that both horns have failed at the same time, but... More likely that a ground connection in that wheelwell is bad or something. Ohm meter at the relay socket...
