Well, this may sound crazy, but as most of you know by now, I just sold my '91 GT. And guess what car I just bought to replace it with? That's right, this one. My old girl is coming back to Indiana. I gave everyone a fair chance to steal it, thinking I wasn't in a position to buy it myself, but with the quick sale of the GT, I'm back in the mix. I'll have it in mint condition again in no time. And yes, I'll probably resell it for a small profit. But, it will have all the imperfections taken care of. And apparentely, there's quite a few. It should keep me busy for a month or so.

Paul, I may be calling on you for some leather work. I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations Todd!!!!! I'm thinking thats exactly who deserves to have this Shark, you indeed! I'm glad that things worked out for you to be able to own it again. For myself, I wasnt able to convince the wife of the red color, not in her top couple of choices & if I'm going to convince her to give up her Z4 for one, it will have to include such silly things as color. For me, a GTS is a GTS, is a GTS!!! I hope you decide to keep it a while & enjoy it & that when you do resell it, that you make some $$ for your troubles. I want to say THANK YOU again for letting all of us know about this one being available, for how quickly you responded to me & all of the info you provided. Next time you visit your parents in SE Ga., let me know & perhaps I can drive up.

How long will you be "owning" this one before it goes up for sale?

Thanks guys! I actually fly out to Seattle tomorrow to pick her up. 2200 miles later, I should be home. Then the real work starts. Alot can change in the six years we've spent apart from each other. I just hope all is still intact when I get there.

And yes, I'll post picks as soon as I get home.................after I take a nap, of course.

OK so ..."I owned this particular GTS about 6 years ago. .. It had 69K on it when I sold it. ...
I sold it for $25K 6 years ago...." by the time you drive it home it will have 95,000 miles and has a few cosmetic issues factor in fuel $300 plus air fare etc. and I can see why you might expect a "small" profit. When you consider that the car has had 6 years of use and about 25,000 miles for it to only depreciate by $5,000 that is less than $900 per year or even on a per mile basis about 20 cents per mile !!! Besides this somehow seems like getting back together six years later with an ex-wife.... few more miles but still familiar. Have a good drive home !

Jim, you forgot to take into account the net present value of his $25k from 6 years ago...

Yes, it has that familiarity of an ex to it, for sure.

Oh, and keep those phone lines open for me down there. I'll be needin' a few things!

Andrew, this is so true. In fact, I'm paying exactly what I did 6 years ago for it. Ironic?

Oh, and this time the option code of 596, "wing painted matte black" will be totally discarded. I wanted to do it last time, and this time I'm doing it for sure. Yes, that's right, we're going to paint it red. Just like it should have been from the start.

I may even change the carpet color to black. Who knows?

The opportunities are endless. Oh, and I would appreciate any ideas for carpet color as well from all you guys. I'm pretty sure the light grey has become more of a light brown by now, but that's yet to be seen. I just thought that black carpet (not just the mats) would be a nice contrasting color combo.

Or is it to much contrast? Any suggestions?

Interesting trail for this car. Congrats on getting her back, Todd!

I can fill in a blank here:

I actually purchased this GTS from Doug awhile back. Had it transported out here to NorCal with the intent that my wife use it for a DD. She drove it for a very short time (kept title open) and decided it was too much of a magnet (that red ain't exactly subtle) and without rub strips, was really concerned about door dings (although I really think it was the speeding ticket that did it for her ).

Chris saw it @ DEVEK and we cut a deal. Had some minor stuff taken care of, then drove back up north.

Now it's yours to take to the next level!
