The automatic makes it easy. Getting the results you are getting with a 5spd takes talent.

Some electricity. Its created with cherry pie, being distilled. You get electricity and cherry win.

The running water is still in the planning stages.

I remember Egg harbor when it had one store with Stale bread and rancid milk.

Andrew,

It sounds like you are having fun smoking your tires
Are you experiencing a lot of wheel hop?

Nope. I think the wheel hop thing happens when you you're on the borderline of traction and slip. I used to get wheel hop before, but now it just spins the crap out of the wheels. I do have a smoke problem however.

I suppose that having the 100+rwhp more than that car the posted run was from might make things a little bit more interesting.

I keep telling him to launch the car in 3rd - he will still get wheel sping off the line for a nice smooth start.

He has a 2.6x rear end GTS transmission. With a set of drag slicks I'm sure he could pop one hell of a wheelie. I'm actually scared to ride in his car again. Yea yea, I'm a *****.

And thats not even the 6.1. Its the 5.0, with scooped pistons, IIRC.

You are correct, wheel hop happens when the tires are just slightly over their traction limit. This is more evident when they use traction compounds at the drag strip.

2 years ago I was waiting in line at the local drag strip when the attendant brought out a mop bucket that contained the traction compound. He laid a nice thick layer of it just before it was my turn to line up. This thing had to be stickier than honey. When I was staging I could hear the tires make loud “sticky” sound. Same sound as when duct tape is pulled from a roll. I had a feeling that unless I launch at high rpms, the engine will bog because the traction compound will not let the tires spin. I revved it up to 5700 and dumped the clutch just as the last amber light came on. I was ready to feel the tires spin at least a bit, but the compound was so strong that the tires didn’t spin at all. The clutch slipped a little and the car launched forward like a rocket. It was the best launch I ever got out of my car. By the time I was around the 60” mark I new this will be an excellent run and was it ever!! I managed to pull a 13.5sec with only a set of chips and nothing more. Besides the chips, the car was 100% stock.
When you get to the track, make sure to ask if they will be using traction compound that night and pay attention to when they are applying it. You don’t really want to be the first guy in line, with the SC and the limitations of the single disk clutch, you can easily fry it if the tires don’t spin. Try to be 3rd or later in line.

I have more than enough power to go well over my tires traction limit but I still get wheel hop.

Well it's the price we pay for having independent rear suspension. Solid axle rears have less of tendency to create wheel hop.

Found this little tidbit.
The next time you are at the strip set your pitch factor to 0.0 and use this (attached) to figure out the correct pitch factor.
