Hey Randy,

Can you please pin the post for a week or so, so folks can post their pic's etc.

Thanks to everyone who attended this year, we certainly appreciate your support. We had 35 rowdys at the banquet Saturday night including some new comers. The weather order I put in came through perfectly and more that one sunburn was reported. Only minor issues came up with the cars like some hot running cars over the passes and one "more or less flat tire". Sorry Rich but you own the title for this year, right Gerry? If you put the Tahoe spares on you get the title!!

The welcome party lasted until around 10pm or so on Friday with owners popping in and out between gambling and dinner reservations. Saturday dawned with mostly bright eyes and minor headaches. After a Biltmore provided breakfast we headed out on our drive. Our first stop was on Mt Rose overlooking the entire lake. Up Mt Rose and down the backside into Reno, then up the Gieger grade to our second stop overlooking Reno. You can really rip on this road and our faithrull event photographer, George was on had to capture all of the action. Then it was on into Virginia City where Brian was thrown in Jail and people could have lunch, stroll around, watch the gunfight, or just take in the sights.

After lunch we motored through Virginia City and went down the "Virginia City hill climb road" into Carson City. Lots of people had fun on this grade because it is 5 miles of constant turns going steeply downhill. After some minor seperation of the cars because of stop lights we grouped up and headed down Jacks Valley Rd to Kingsbury Grade. Jacks Valley Rd is right up against the Sierras and runs about 15 miles south and gave us a little oppurtunity to pass a couple of sightseeing motorists. Once on Kingsbury grade 3 of us managed to get by the traffic and take off around the famous 280 degree turn. I was in the lead with Joe in second and Stan in third. I kept accellerating around the turn and looked in the mirror and all I could see in Joe's GTS was white teeth . His grin was blinding. Took a glance at Stan and he looked like a Crest toothpase commercial. It was fun !! This grade climbs from 5,000 feet to over 9,000 ft in less then 10 miles . This is where we had some heating issues and a couple of cars stopped to let there cars cool before returning to the hotel.

The rest of us came down the grade and turned back onto hwy 50 back toward Carson City. We slowed down and let the group catch us and started our cruise back to our home base. Fortunately the highway construction cooperated and our wait at Sand Harbor was only about 2 minutes.

Everyone headed back up to the balcony for some well deserved refreshments and stories. The group broke up about 5:45 and we got ready for the banquet.

I'm going to stop for now but I'll chime in a little later with a recap of Saturday night and Sunday.

You aren't going to like this, but the finish should be ground off for the weights to stick. At least have it roughed up.

Congrats you guys...looks like another great time. Sorry we couldn't make it...gonna be a while until we see another 928 event.

I am sure Tim and Cheryl once again created a class event. The display of hardware is nothing short of spectacular!

However, I think Jorj finally outdid himself with this picture...it is TRULY a picture postcard and should be the poster for next years event. Joe, Brian and who ever owns that silver GTS ...your cars look FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!

JORJ...if you don't mind, I would like to use this photo as the front page of the SOCAL board. Thank you!

More pic's will be coming. George told me he took over 3,000 and has to cull out about 1000 before he gives me the disks. He will post some of the best later.

A lot of folks are driving back today so I sure by the end of the day we will get more.

Later

I have to agree, that pic is fantastic, color, scene and all that but it captured the lowness and width of the 928 perfectly.
