My cheap fix for air box straps

My cheap fix for air box straps
The four rubber straps on my air box are useless. They are intact, but there is no life left in them and they are stretched out. The solution for me was to go to the local Napa and buy a bag of tire chain tensioners. Cost $4.50. Took about ten minutes to install. Just take off the hooks and put on the air box. The fit is nice and tight. Hope this helps someone out.

Hey Mark, didn't you actually vent your airbox to relieve vacuum? Because of that, I was under the impression that a tight fit on the airbox wasn't necessary. Perhaps you can clarify this for me...

There was a thread on this a long while back, suggesting that the aftermarket straps for 911 cars can be adapted pretty easily for this duty. Performance Products, Mid-America, and other 911 supporters sell their own straps in several colors, so the folks with red engine bay details can color coordinate their straps.
Anybody got pictures of the 911 straps in this duty?

Jim:
Mine are shot too. (Same year as yours)
For $5, I will surely give those straps a try. Thanks for the tip!
Peace,
Tim

I like this idea since any non-928 people would not think it isn't original (like tech inspection at DE's).
