Default Bilstein / Eibach / Ride Height

Last summer I purchased a set of lightly used Bilstein/Eibachs from Mark Robinson.

I recently had them installed and the ride height adjusted back to near stock (car was lowered a lot when I got it, leaky shocks caused front rubbing on hard corners, and I would scrape the chin spoiler if I so much as drove over a tampon).

What a difference!!

I was worried the car would be oversprung or uncomfortable, but it's really, really comfortable. I would highly recommend this combination to anyone looking to refresh their worn out stock shocks/springs.

I also had new steering rack bushings installed, and that made a big difference in responsiveness and turn-in.

If your 928's handling is sloppy, consider both these changes. It was definitely worth it, and I wish I would've not procrastinated so long.

I like the stock ride height... improved driving and comfort as well as cornering without the tail swinging out. I think Porsche optimized the 928 handling and steering as well as chassis response around it. I was skeptical at first (my car was riding really low when i got it), but once i raised it i became a believer. I would really recommend this for the sake of ride and car

I have that setup and though the first 500 or so miles was a bit rough... I think they softened up a bit and I really like the ride now...

People who think 928s aren't tight cars are probably riding on 20 year old shocks. I agree that this is a great mod. Even though the springs are stiffer than stock, the ride is more supple AND more controlled.

Default Who adjusted your ride height?

Hi Brian,

I'm in your area and am curious who reset your ride height. I too have Bilstein Eibach and am runnin too low, was it done by someone in San Diego area, or did you do it yourself? Thanks for a reply if you get a moment!

Here's a pic of the car. I had the work done at Precision Motorwerks up in Anaheim. I usually try to take the car there once a year for maintenance and something "fun."

No, that's lowered about 1-1.5" if memory serves (Unless it was raised up a bit)

I told them to adjust the ride height to the lower end of the stock range. I haven't gone out and measured at the pads, so I don't know precisely where the car sits, but I can say that I no longer scrape the front end on every uneven segment of pavement, and the tires don't rub the fenders in medium hard cornering anymore.

Heres a pic of the ride height on my car with Bilstein/Eibachs. Tires are 255/45/17 front and 285/40/17 rear on 9.5 and 10.5 HRE's.

I agree. People forget all this stuff does wear out. Would we expect a 20 yr old mustang to be tight? Then why would shocks on a 928 last forever?
