I made it home. Big thanks go to Drew for traveling with me up to Cincinatti (sp?). The car performed flawlessly. Just before Drew pulled off for home, I got to have a bit of fun with a new Z06! Hauling a few extra pounds didn't help, but I kept with him pretty good. I really need to learn how to drive this car again, becasue I know I can do better next time!

Thanks again DR for making such an awesome product. It rocks! DR rocks!

All of you who ask about feel. I was scared ****less to dive it the first time out of DR's garage. (That's why he's dring it out in the picture. The gravel road was a bit intimidating becasue the throttle feels about 2/3 lighter than stock. So there's quite a learning curve there. But after we put it on the shark tuner this morning, she began to pull like a train. It's really fun to hear the SC rev up. The extra power comes on very similar to how the nitrous came on in my old car, except I'll never have to fill another nitrous bottle again!

I was able to remember a few more people that heped out on the install. ErnestSw, Tom (btw, your instruction came in very handy today for the tunung session!), Bobby, and of course Thor. I know there are a lot more people I'm leaving out. I should have made a list of all who helped. It was a huge team effort. Thanks again to all.

Norm-

glad you made it okay, and the car is awesome! I bet that new zo6 owner shat his pants and said WTF? Be sure to place the pics of your old intake in the shrine as a gift to the Bwaa gods for long and sage twin screw fun!

Glad to hear you're enjoying the power. The low throttle effort is interesting. DR preserved the throttle quadrant, so it must be that the springs on the dual throttle bodies are not as heavily sprung as the stock throttle body. I would think the spring tension could be adjusted to feel like stock and eliminate any touchiness to the throttle. I don't remember a learning curve. I just took off in a cloud of tire smoke.

Enjoy!

So the fact that the engine gets a new and revitalised crankcase breathing system means I can justify it to the OH as just repairs and some long term preventative maintenance?

Somehow I see Jeannie will see the inside of my wallet sooner rather than later. (I can't see DR actually seeing any $$$ from this superb enterprise.)

No joke. It really only uses one MAF. THe other is a dummy to keep the airflow EXACTLY the same as what is going through the real MAF. It's my understanding that Sir Speak has done some wizardry and through the Shark tuner can trick the LH to see 2X airflow, or maybe it's 1/2 the fuel. Either way, it works.

Bill,
No purchase necessary :-). Those at SITM got to see it "unmasked" on our mockup engine even better than when installed in a 928.

Here are a few photos that will show others what is happening under the cover...

First we start with a sheet of aluminum and cut/bent the main section to this..

We then make the bottom, rear and TB mount plates and spend a "little" time doing this......

Then we test fit before final finishing....

I think you have already seen the photo from the front without the cover, here is a shot from the rear which should explain what is happening on the back side a little better...

BTW, Randall and I make this entire Air Guide setup right here in my shop so I can be assured of proper fitment etc. during every manufacturing step.

Hope that helps make that part of the design clearer..

Andrew,

Actually John was just as confused as everyone else about my design...at first. There is and was no special wizardry done to the SharkTuner for my design, we use the SharkTuner as designed to make my layout work.

>Either way, it works.

YEP :-)
