Default Upper ball joints

I found that my upper ball joints are bad making my wheels set inward at an angle. It looks like the "rubber" is gone and smashed all to hell. How do you go about replacing these? I see you can buy the whole control arm for $800 ouch! I also sen that you can buy the bushings for a$75. How hard is it to change the bushings? Thanks 86.5

The bushings take time and patience, the ball joint takes a replacement arm

Your ball joints are bad enough to change the camber??? I'm surprised it's holding together if it's that bad.

If it's just the boot that's bad, it's an easy fix (see my avatar). Carl gets his ball joint kits from Travis, IIRC. Contact Travis at Rennbay.com and see if he has a solution for the later cars. There is also a tutorial on installing them on Rennbay's site.

ive got a click in mine. and it hasnt gott'en worse in the last 3 years of racing. I bring my replacemtn a-arm to all the events, but recently, ive even stopped bringing it. the rubber dust cover is still good, but the ball is moving a little. these things are tough. I think the only thing mine did was a increase camber from the original setting a little.

Mark, when you say click, you mean a "click" you can hear when turning the wheels. My 78' do that sometimes. Can only hear it when window's down

Rennbay.com doesnt say anything about 86.5 years. It must be just for early 86.

So do I buy the bushings for 86.5 up and replace them? Is there a write up?
