Default 993 C4S Ate me

This weekend I rolled up and asked a nice man in a 993C4S if he wanted to see who got to 45 first. I wasn't trying to stage it, so my revs were at idle, but I was quite surprised when he shot forward by a whole car length before Godzilla even got up past 2,000 RPM.

There are definitely ways to alter that outcome in your favor by a significant amount.

REDUCE YOUR WEIGHT BY 5-600 POUNDS. YOU GOT 316HP AND ALMOST 3700 LBS AND HE HAS 282HP AND JUST OVER 3000LBS.

you guys are seriously underestimating the advantages of AWD if you think parity to 45 is going to be a mattter of lightening or gearing.

When a 993 C4s can get below 4 sec in 0-60, I'll start to worry. Until then.......

The all wheel drive of the C4S just hooks up and goes but it is rather heavy. The C-4 cars are amazing in the rain !

Sub-4 is awesome, You're getting good traction then, thats great.
I know that the spec for 0'60 for my VR4 was in the 6 second range depending on the tester...and that was a joke. A driver willing to spin up the rpms to get (even the stock) turbos spinning and then loosing them....well, like Sterling mentioned it gets to be a function of traction...are the four tires on the AWD car providing more stick and therefore effectively transmitting a higher level of power than the two contact patches on the RWD car. I'm just guessing that wheelspin would be an issue at any speed pretty-much at the driver's discretion from 0-45 mph on a sub 4-second car, so gearing might only exacerbate the problem.

I don't think there was a 993-4S. The Carrera 4 in 993 body style would have been AWD (or there may have been an option), but I don't believe the rear end would actually say '4S'. If you were up against a real 4S, I believe it would have been the 996 body style and it can do a 0-60 in about 4.8-4.9 with a good driver. Correct me if i'm wrong...

I remember one of those 4S cars cruisin' for a bruisin' back when I had my 86.5. He had about 1/2 a car on me at launch, then I put about a car and a half on it and shutdown due to the speed limit.

what you're missing is that getting to 60 mph in a 911 feels so effortless...especially in street (quiet) exhaust

The C4S is pretty amazing in the dry too - at least on the deserted and twisting backroads of Cape Breton island ...
I had some very quality wheel time in the one below recently - and after an intro 40Km period to 'feel' the car, I leaned into it a bit for an hour's romp with Rick's '86.5 as a chase car. It hooks up very well indeed: while it does not have the torque sensation of a S4, it gathers up road quickly once in motion .... oh ... and when the VarioRam induction activates at 5000rpm, the music is worth the price of admission as it holds in 'till the rev limiter is touched

Tempting - I've got the running gear of a C4S available - just need a good rolling chassis, likely a C2 993 to accept it ....

You are politely corrected!
BTW, if you had 1.5 car lengths on a 993 C4S, I suspect that the driver was taking a call on his cell phone ....

Mike had a twin screw 928, so he was probably putting down somewhere around 400 hp at the wheels, give or take. It certainly wakes up these cars.
