Default Shark Lifter II .... it's alive!

Some time back, I traded off $300 Canuck for a car hoist .... reported here . I was feeling like the hapless 'Jack in the Bean Stock' tale, crawling home with a mere three beans in exchange for my cash ......
Weeks later, with the base sandblasted & installed, I recruited 3 more 200+ pounders to help wrestle the columns with the seized arms into my truck ....'twas all we could do to lift them! With a lot of sledge hammer assistance, the arms came apart - and step by step this wonderful old piece of West German engineering (Hofmann) came back to life. Jeff ( 944SBoyee) was coerced into helping erect the columns ... as I lured him in with a promise of a brake job .
The challenges were mostly fun - like developing 3-phase power from a domestic supply, getting 1/4" check plate cut & bent, working out the 24v logic control of the limit switches for the mag start switch contactors, etc ...... but it FLIES!
No more jack stands for me!

pics to be resized before they fly

I thought they're supposed to be installed in the ground, not on the bed of a pick'um up truck.

Here's the final product ... sort of a fun project by the end, especially when the control box and motor actually worked! Yes ..... there were many moments of doubt.

So which car did you lift first? I'll bet it was NOT the 928! Probably the truck.
