Default Garbage (key head crest - RV)

Tonight the crest on my fairly (1/1/06) new lighted key head from 928 spec. fell off somewhere, the red paint was already flaking off and the light had already stopped working. I paid $26.65 for it and now its worthless, am I supposed to buy a new one every few months?

Dude, with as much unhappiness as this car is bringing you, I'd sell it and get something more fitting to your expectations.

Picked up a head for mine at Reeves ($30.42) when I went to see my folks down in Tampa...lasted approx 2 months before the light did not function at all. At one month all it did was flicker...
On a side note the only time I really used it was to see if it still worked

Boy, the prices have gone up. I got my crested lighted head for $17 last time.

Me too Bill...I think 928 Intl. has them for $18 or so...battery included. But...although a novelty, it isn't much as a flashlight. And if used much...the battery expires rather quickly. Best to buy extras and a spare bulb or 2, if you actuall intend to use the thing (other than as a keyhead).

The lighted key head can be replaced with a little bright LED and different batteries that last way longer.

I have a beautiful new key on a beautiful new fob. I keep it in a drawer, and every now and then I take it out and fondle it while muttering and wheezing ''mine mine, all mine''. I won't bore you with the cost, but apparently there is a secret handshake you have to know to get new keys made, and I went around with one key for a long time. I stretch a human hair across the drawer face, so I can tell if anybody has been playing with my precious.

Seriously, go to school and get a good job. Have all the keys made you want. Buy new P cars and trade them in when the crest falls off the key.

No, really, we all have those kind of 928 days. It will pass. And I really do keep the nice key hidden away. You will never find it.

My nice new key works well enough that, with a little force, it can turn the ignition switch and start the car. It still can't unlock the doors.

This represents the best efforts of the local Porsche dealership after 3 attempts to get it right.

I just took one of my old black keys (3 came with the car) and converted it to LED. Has worked for over two years now.

Mine is still fine after well over a year... but I don't cram it in my pocket with my other keys, Swiss Army knife, etc. I tend to tuck the shark fob in my pocket and let the key hang out, so I guess I'm just easy on it.

That part should come with a 2 year warranty as I believe that Porsche is the only supplier and they warranty all new parts for 2 years.
