8x17 ET70 will most likely need 4-5mm spacer or inside will rub to steering parts and body. At least 245 rubber did on one local S4.

What I want is a 5 spoke 18" rim like the ones on the 996 or 997 with a 65 ET.

Matt-
Great job. I was kind of working on the same thing, but got busy at work and started replacing my brake lines. Now it's time for bed. Good start. *yawn*

Andrew,

What are you going to do with your current wheels? I have the original chrome manhole covers on my 87, and like the cups you have. Also, anyone interested in a set of chrome monhole covers?

For our cars, 8" backspacing works real well for wheels 9.5 front and 11 rear. adjust based on wider or narrower wheels. this works for 275 up front and 305 in the rears. no rolling at all for 255 front and 285 rears.

I modified the format slightly so I think it makes more sense. Any comments about how it is formatted are welcome. If anybody has any sizes to put in the list post them here.

Needed information:
Wheel width
Wheel offset
Front/Rear
Tire width
Fit?

Rub? Which side, in or out?
Spacer? How big?
Rolled wheel well lips?
GTS?

If you post the first 5 and skip the rest, I'll assume 'no' to everything else.

this subject is killing me ... literally. i'm dying to get these dish wheels off the shark, but every wheel package I look at (used or ebay, of course) i get concerned. I know the offsets to look for, 65mm for front and 52 for the rear, but tire width has to come into play. i can't stick 18x11 with a 51mm offset (295/35 tires) without having to roll the fenders, can I? I dont want to mod my fenders.

No you can't. I don't think you can even run a 10" without at lease doing a minor roll. Now that bring up some terminology questions. There's roll and there's ROLL!

Little roll is where the inner lip is rolled up - so inted of a 90* angle, you effectively have a 180* angle. This gives about 1/4" to 1/2" extra space - This is what the GT's have and I think you can get a 10" without further rolling - I believe the max tire size would be around 285. I'm running 275's in a 9" wheel and I have finger of spacing (ET is 53 IIRC).

Then there's ROLL! You would definately need to do this for an 11" wheel.

I'm using the term roll like GTs came from the factory. Anything more than folding up the lip I'd consider flaring.

It looks to me like those wheels would fit. The fronts are within the bounds of JK's 245s on 9" CS wheels. The rears would sit about 6mm inboard of the Turbo Twist IIs that Tony has installed. Either may require rolling, but you could check with Tony on that. If his don't those shouldn't. This is without spacers.

It is possible that my little Excel sheet could be horribly wrong (<--covering my ***)

Were do the spacers come into play? Can’t you adjust the offset by simply adding or removing spacers? I have drawn the suspension to scale as well as the 9, 10 & 11 inch wheels. I have placed them so that a 11" wheel hits the fender lip even with the optimum offset. Too little offset, say less than 45 or so even on the 9” wheel is very close to the shock body (about ¼”). I am trying to establish a range. I think this is a starting point, but without exact maximums and minimums it’s difficult to be sure that my drawing is right. I will try to post the drawing in the morning for comments.

Reading your chart, I find no mention of wheel diameter (i.e. 16", 17", etc.). Theoretically that could be important, so you might want to consider adding that.

Also, I did not see a 17" diameter, 7.5" wide, ET55 front wheel (factory Cup II) shod with 225 rubber. Fits, obviously, with no rubbing.

I'm going by the assumption that all wheel/tire packages will be about the same diameter (~25-25.7"). That makes it so that wheel diameter isn't all that important. The sidewalls would protrude more or less, but I think there's going to be enough variation between manufacturers of tires, that the wheel size issue won't matter. I guess I could put wheel diameter to help people figure out which is which, but that just makes showing the data more complicated.

I have the factory Cup I/Cup II fronts as 65mm offset from 928 Specialists site. I know the aftermarkets are 50-something.
