Does anyone have experience or an opinion on the following configuration/combination:

18 x 8.5 235/40 18 et 49 (Front)

I incorrectly listed the offset at 45 earlier.

Should work fine, but as mentioned earlier, a higher offset is preferred (e.g. 55+) but it's n ot always practical to find/buy.

Default newbie question.... Confused!

Hi all,

Hopefully some of you will have some help for me... i am stuck in the quagmyre of tire choices for my 1980 928.... i have a set of "Cup 2" (i think) wheels that are stamped 8j x 16 ET 52, hense i assume they are 8" wide 16 dia and a 52 offset. now my problem, i am looking to get tires and would LOVE to have the same size all around (easier for rotation, etc.. ) what size would go best, and would it look silly on the rear if the tires are too small?

THANKS SO MUCH

Bri

Bri-
If they are all 8" (you should double check to be sure as the fronts are usually narrower than the rears), then you could probably go up to a 245 tire. I don't think a 255 would work (too wide). Hope this helps.

Thanks so much.. they are all the same, as are the 15's presently on,

i will go with 245 x16's but what about the profile... 40, 50, etc..

245/45 would be ideal on a 16" rim. The tire shop should be able to tell you this.

Default Tire size...

I have a 94 GTS and am using 305/30/18 in the rear and 235/35/18 up front with no problems. I have 2003 hollow spoke TT rims with 45 offset in the rear and 50 up front. I have just about exactly the same space left inside and out side. It's a good fit. Of course in the quest for more rubber....anyone one try the 315's yet?

Are those 10" or 11" wide in the rear? I thought the TT had 10" rears, if so 305's are to big for those wheels IMO.

The wheels off the Carraras where 10" that year. The Twin Turbos had 11's
