Default 19" Mille Migla Rear Wheels...

These are Porsche "knock-off" in the rear - we had to do extensive sheet metal work flaring the rear fenders out 1 1/2 inch for these to fit... the fronts are 18" no mods were needed.

jhaverly, i have the twin turbo hollow spokes with 315s on the rear and a 7mm spacer, but i have GTS arches on my 86.

edit - i see you are fitting these to a GTS! i think the front is only an 8 or 8.5" though, definitely not a 9". ive put some 10" rims on the front now with the same style but they are not hollow spoke and are heavy.

Thanks for the calculator Andrew! I used it in haste as a last check before I picked up some 993 rimz off Craigslist, today.

I wasn't really set on twists, and was thinking about 17s, but I'm starting to like these. Mostly, what I wanted was something to show off the brakes.

No fitment problems, except I had to pull the drivers side fender out ever so slightly, just with my hands. Stock 21mm spacers still on.

18x7.5 50ET 225/40 993.362.134.06
18x9.0 52ET 265/35 993.362.138.01

Eventually, I think I'd like a set of 235s on the front, if they'd fit.

Here is my lowered 79 with factory 997 18" wheels. the front suspension is not settled on this car in these pictures.

Front 8x18 - 235/40-18 et 57
Frear 10x18 - 265/40-18 et 58

If I'm taking a somewhat sharp turn and hit a bump, these will hit the fender. So I have to make sure my wheels are straight when pulling into any driveway.

These are Conti Sport 2 tires

Same car as above (still with suspension un-settled) with different wheels:

Front 8x17 - 225/45-17 et 52
Frear 9x17 - 255/40-17 et 52

I damaged my fenders pulling into a driveway with these wheels / tires

Just put 16x9 70mm ET with 265/45's al the way around on the track car.
Works fine, but fronts rub on sharp turns on the inside.

Wow, 265/45 tire on a 9" wheel. I didn't think any Porsche still had 16" wheels by 1995.

5-speed? No, I have a 2.65 auto I'm not sure what I'm going to do with.

Ken,

The wheels look very nice on your car! I got your voice mail a couple of days ago. I hope you are recovering well from the cold.

Erik,

I have the same 997 18" wheels (front 57 ET / rear 58 ET).

The rear 265/40 Bridgestone Expedia tire set-up works well.

However, I face the same problem with the front 235/40 Michelin Sports hitting the fender when turning my wheels to the extreme.

I still bark 'em off, and second gear still goes sideways - just not as far!

More understeer in the corners, which is OK, I guess. The wheels seem to take more effort to change direction at speed. Because of the extra weight?

I hope the extra weight doesn't take away too much of my dyno queen numbers!

Andrew,

Thanks! Exactly one week to get over this nasty cold/flu. I'm just feeling totally OK, today.

It looks like 235s might be a problem. I might stick with the 225s, which at least will be wider on the new 7.5" rims, versus my old 7" rims.

Us pre-86.5 owners do not have the outside clearance the other guys do.

Reason why I'm going to install S4 upper control arms on the 79.

could I add a ~10mm spacer to 18x8 et50 to get it closer to et65, or is that going the opposite direction?
