Well done Hacker, I salute you, do you think you will get anymore power with fine tuning? Can you tell me why you decided to go the route you did? I would have thought that a Euro 2 valve could have produced the same power. But this option has less possibilities. It great to see that you have made these massive improvements, with what is a pretty ordinary engine.

Sway,
Not sure if this is related, but the power curve NA does the same thing - like a rock falling after 5,000rpm or so. I wish I could find that dyno sheet. I should also post the air / fuel curve - not pretty. Bottoms out at 10.5:1 up top so that isn't helping anything
Yoakim, yes there is more power to be had by finer tuning. Like I mentioned above, the rich condition up top is robbing power away. A full euro swap (including block) would cost as much if not more than a blower setup - and produce less power. The most powerful 16V from the factory was 310 crank hp - where as mine is now producing this much at the back tires and I'm nowhere near finished with this car. Simply change the pulley, re-adjust the fuel and bingo 50ish more hp (major assumption, but in theory....)
Why did I go this route? Many years ago this buy named Tim Murphy started showing up at Page Auto where I take my cars. He was developing a blower install on his S4 - so I started hitting him up to help me with a parallel setup for my car. He then sold me a bracket; set of pulley’s and contacted Bell Intercoolers to produce an IC based on some templates we made on my car. Fast forward a few years, I decided to put the blower on hold to perform some basic updates to the car (turned into a full head gasket job) so the project was not completed until this past spring.
If I had to do it all over again – considering the time lapse caused by my cars aging seals and gaskets. It would have been easier to buy Carl’s kit – except I didn’t know he was making one until after I had already shelled out big money for the IC and had all of Tim’s components installed. I drove the car for at least 3 years with the pulleys, brackets and electric fans from Tim’s setup without the blower attached.

Getting 310 at the wheels N/A - 50ish HP gain is huge!

If I had it to do all over again, I would have built it with lower compression and added the Intercooled SC (ISC)!
Since the above dyno, I found a few things that would have either improved or clean up the numbers.
One of the most significant was this one!

Merde!
Decisions, decisions...
Turbo, or, SC ...
Oh well, sending check #1 to Paul for the first of the refreshed/new interior pieces.
So that's my direction for the next year.
Perhaps next year Pattycakes and Zack's White, 81' will see the benefits/pleasure of forced air.
T Max,
Long time no see on the Renn.
Hacker,
I like your numbers but still up in the air between SC, and Turbo.
Mark R. here in Texas seems to be getting pretty close to spot on with his underbelly Turbo.
Only time will tell.
No fights/nit-picking I have at least a year before I choose.
