Another Public Thanks - This Time Heinrich Smit and Bill Ball.
This is a quick post for those two always helpful and always well-mannered and professional men.
I picked up a 86 manual in Seattle from H this Friday. Well, I started driving on Saturday after some mechanical issues (turned out to be electrical).
H and I fussed about what was wrong, and replaced a few things, and it wasn't them - it was a much more simple but hidden electrical-like issue, but I will not go into too much detail as H and I have agreed to keep it quite for fear of retribution on this list and removal of our "well-informed" and "technically Savy" reputations. Release of the details surrounding our mis-diagnosis would relegate us to more simpleton reputations such as "He doesn't know jack **** about 928s" for me, or for H, "He listens to Brendan's ""I know these cars well" crap too much"
We will not speak of it again.
Anyway, I was once again treated with hospitality, and good tools and assitance with what needed to be done (or really didn't, it turns out).
H is a very real enthusiast.
And though I have only met Bill ball for all of 5 minutes combined on two separate occasions, he is always the professional and helpful man that he comes off as on here. He was precise and specific when describing where to rondevue in the middle of nowhere somehwere south of Sactramento but north of LA, and he was there when I needed him to be so that my kamakazee trip back home was not interupted for more then a few minutes.
It seems that 98% of the time when I meet people from this specific forum, the 928 forum, they are just like this - good people.

It's always a pleasure to spend time with you Brendan, likewise, you are a great guy ... As far as Mr Ball is concerned, he has been of incredible help. Bill, thank you very much, for helping with the seats!!

Sorry, you are simply the second Stan, but nice try my man. Bill asked as I was driving it home. It may be, but not for a while. Its a solid car, but I guess that hasn't stopped me before.

Heh, heh. Yeah, Brendan claimed he was just going to DRIVE this car. Imagine that! Well, he did drive it from H'man's place to San Diego. It does have some electrical bugs, but Brendan, that doesn't require that you strip the car. Well, good luck with it, and glad I could help with Heinrich's new seats.

Thanks Bill.
I think more then BUGS, the car has some serious crap alarm install work, causing stuff like interior lights to not work, etc. The dash lights didn't work for 1000 miles, and then I kept rolling the reostat under the pod back and forth - boom - the dash lights came on!
I'm waiting for the wipers to work. I should have a solid 5 months before I need them here.

It's an amazing group indeed, Bill and Dave working on my car with Heinrich on Dave's speaker phone with updates on Brendan's progress as he headed towards us. As we finished up Bill was headed out for a meeting with Brendan somewhere on I5 after a hard day wrenching on my car.
Brendan's correct on the "good people" comment, these guys are the best
