V-8 + german engineering + fastest production car on the planet for a spell? != sissy .

ah, well. Some models of the homo sapiens have problems with their ID-10T. It's a known issue.

So Bill, can I meet your daughter sometime? *runs away*

whatever you do - don't challenge him! even if you are right. I made that mistake w/my 1st wife/father in law: "oh don't worry - I'll make more than you do before I graduate, so she'll be happy to move up"... sounded funny at the time for a punk 19 yr old computer science major/mba - but he didn't think so and hated me for the next 10 yrs. or was it the motorcycle, long hair, guitar playing, hang gliding, sky diving, scuba diving and extreme skiing I got her into?? hmmm... just don't do any of that

sissy car? yeah right. you don't need a blower. and don't show him:

The classic lines and body style of the 928 have stood the test of time and still look as modern as anything on the road today. Doubtful that 20 years from now, the Viper will still look modern and the Chevy Truck? Doubtful it will even be running by then, let alone anyone even looking at it twice.

Ignorance is bliss!

Whitefox, the above is the best advice yet. Even though you may find it mentally painful, learn some facts about the Viper. Be ready to spew them forth, respectfully and with a slightly awe-struck tone. Butter up the dad and you'll have freedom of action. Trust me on this one... mmmkkkay?

And to you 928 owners with daughters.... if your daughter brings home a pimple-faced kid that can read the option codes on your tank sticker shoot him right then and there. If you take the bait and decide that he's a harmless car-nerd he'll be all over your daughter like a cheap suit within 15 minutes. Trust me on this one... mmmkkkay?

(Let's just say that at one time many many years ago there was a pimple-faced king that researched some trivia on 1958 Caddy's, various Edels, and - of all things - some WWII military Rolls Royce jeep-like thing. And that said research had little do to with interest in those cars.)

I don't think I'd even react to someone stating something as stupid as "Porsche's are sissy cars", though it sounds like bait to me.

My 928's 286 cubic inch engine breathes through the factory headers, then a Louis Ott X-pipe, and finally a 928 International/Borla exhaust. It can reach 106 mph in a quarter mile, and if its rumble and performance rates it as "feminine" in his mind then I would like to buy him a dress. And a pair of heels-so that he can look sexy while he drives his plastic "SSR"!

-I WOULD challenge this guy to a race. Maybe you'll win, maybe you'll not. But if you race your girlfriends dad like this, a subtle change will occur. He'll turn into your fiance's dad in his mind at least...I suspect!

N!

Go pick up a 50 gallon rubber trash can - put on a big red bow - tell him it's just in case he ever needs body work done, here are some spare parts.

Ok. It's a big sports car with a big, powerful truck engine. Better?

My friend has over 200,000 miles on his Viper. He uses it as his daily driver. It's a damn fast car. You can't compare cars, because people like that feel that it is a competition about how fast your car is, not what year it is. All he knows, is that his car is faster than your car. So it's a sissy car in his mind. How amazing it was for it's time, or how inexpensive it is, is not going to convince him otherwise.

BTW, when you talk about adding a supercharger, you have to compare apples to apples. My friend just got done putting a supercharger on his Viper, and is putting down 630hp to the rear wheels. He took me for a ride, and that thing is no joke. I would not doubt it is faster than my 900RR was. You'd need a crazy machine to keep up with him. Sometimes you just have to let people feel superior, even if you know you have a really good car, for a good price. There is always someone willing to spend more money to be faster, better, etc...
