Andrew: It's Jim Morehouse's CD compilation, not me, that is a wealth of information. Everyone should review them from beginning to end. I have, but much of it doesn't stick until something like Darien's issue comes up. Your summary is correct, except I am not sure of the cost for a complete 88 rebuild kit with 4 pistons.
Other threads have indicated the "early 87" is no longer available. I believe that the one with "normal" pistons, without the reliefs. I have those on mine. I'll have to either check these website or pray a bit... I tore into my right front caliper last night and cleaned everything with a couple cans of brakleen and am going to put it back on in a few minutes. Hope it doesn't leak! It all went back together nicely, I was able to work the pistons back in with brake fluid as a lubricant. It wasn't easy but it does appear to be in once piece.

The changeover was in 89, as I mention above. Good thing is the SEALS did NOT change, just the dust scaper was changed to a bigger dust boot, and the piston was altered to accomodate the boot. So, if it leaks, the seals are available.
