Default Forced Induction

What is the best option for money to force induct an earlier, 16V 928? I have seen $5K kits out there, but with that money, it seems like you could just sell your 16V and buy a later 928 (maybe even an S4) and supercharge that later.

Search the list. The options have been discussed many times. Since you have a spoiler and didn't mention it being a Euro, I'm assuming you have an L-jet car. Your commercial options are 928 Motorsport's supercharger or John Kuhn's twin turbo. A Rennlister (Imo) built his own SC setup for about $1000 for an 85-86 US. Another Rennlister (toofast) in NJ built an SC setup for an earlier US L-jet car. There have been others discussed.

I'm almost done supercharging my 81, I went back and forth with the same questions you have. A well tuned 16V SC car should make more power than a stock S4 (with other mods like exhaust - stock manifolds are horrible).
You still have all the benefits of a 16V:
-Easier to work on
-Non interference (if you have a US model)
-Awesome OB body style (some of us prefer it)
-Total “sleeper” to anyone who knows the difference between an OB and an S4 body (many would be surprised how many non 928 people cannot tell – last PCA DE a few thought my lowered 79 was a GTS).
-Lighter weight

Not to mention if you already have an OB, supercharge what you have! More fun that way vs. waiting.

I have sold several complete Stage 1 kits for as little as $3350. Some folks called and said how'd they would love to SC their early CIS car, but the $4800 tag was a little steep. So I offered them a substitue - to use a rebuilt supercharger instead of the new one in their kit - and got the price down where it was easier to swallow for an older car.

Works nice.

$3350? Damn, that has to be the best deal in town for the CIS cars.

That IS a very good deal. Did that price include a used SC or just the kit withouth the SC? Either way it's a good deal.

That price included a used SC - its the complete Stage 1 kit we advertise, no parts missing. Just assembled using a rebuilt supercharger instead of a new one.

K-Jet (CIS) Stage 1 kit using a used, rebuilt head unit = $3350 complete
L-Jet Stage 1 kit used, rebuilt head unit = $3550 complete

Fits all 1978 thru 1984 16v 928's.

Pictures and spec sheets on our 928 Supercharger kits are here:
http://www.928m.com/parts/superchargers.html

Videos that show the Supercharger kits running and being emissions tested are here:
http://www.928m.com/ourvideos.html

You can also download the first third of the Installation Manual for our
Supercharger kits and read it at:
http://www.928m.com/install.html

I think, at the moment, we are the only kit maker for 16v 928s. Been making and installing them for 4 years. Others say they are coming out with a 16v product - but I do not think they are "real" just yet.

Good price for that Carl! My Turbo setup will fit the earlier cars, just haven't made the slight provisions to do so, & can't reduce price under 5k either.

And with a little wiggling, the Carl supercharger stuff would probably work on 16V Euro LH cars.

Thanks Mark. As you know - its hard to keep a complete nothing-else-needed kit under $5k, and also keep the quality up where we want it to be.

And with a little wiggling, the Carl supercharger stuff would probably work on 16V Euro LH cars.
Actually, I know it does and I have the fuel lines prepared for a LH 16v car - just have never had anyone order one yet.

Well I mean I think you should say "16V to 86 euro" so that people know you have something. Maybe suggest some methanol injection to keep the boost up to your normal levels.

I thought you said somebody did order one but hadn't completed the installation yet. The customer was active duty or something like that.

Oh man, Carl if I could get a 32v kit with a used sc for a deep discount, I will read you my credit card # pronto. I have been talking to you for a while , but couldn't pull the trigger on 5300.00. I know R&D and all that, but you can buy a whole 928 for that. I can afford the 53 but it isn't the point. Show me something reasonable , and I will be your very next customer no BS!
Kevin
