Default X-pipe = no no

I received a certified letter today from Mr. Monty Campbell. Monty owns the trademark "X-Pipe" and just about all other terms with "X" in them. He requested that I not use "X-Pipe" or any confusingly similar mark in any publication or editorial content. Therefore, I have removed all reference to X Pipe from my web site. I replaced the "X Pipe" term with "V^2", or V squared. I had always thought that X pipe was a generic description of how two pipes were joined. Apparently, not so. He even has a patent on it and seems quite proud of discovering something that has been around for quite a number of years. www.x-pipe.com

So, no more references to X pipes here. I suppose the RennPolice will uphold that suggestion so we'll have no future problems with Mr. Campbell.

It's fine with me if you want to refer to X pipes as V^2 pipes though.

Do you suppose there is a trademark or patent on "H pipe", or "Straight pipe", "Headers"? How about trademarking "Wheel" denoting something that's round? Wonder if you could get a patent on air?

Check out what he has to say regarding the Corvette system:

"The real X-PipeTM designed and developed by the real inventor of the X-PipeTM; Monty Campbell "
"Converts excess sound pressure (noise) into increased cylinder pressure (adding 18+ RWBHP)"
"Generates 3 power peaks; at 2,000, 4,000, & 6,000 rpm!"
"Exciting, 4 channel Surround Sound experience "

But the best quote is near the bottom:

"No copy cats, please."

Hey, he did say please.....

What a bunch of crap.

Hi

If you look at his copyright stuff on first page...he only has..... X-Pipe (SINGULAR) copyrighted ...NOT ...X-Pipes (PLURAL)

So just call them X-Pipes and all fine

All the best Brett

Isn't he the same gentleman that has been after Dr. Gas for a long time stating the same thing? Maybe it's a good thing we call ours a X-over or crossover...

I think you should call 'em "Monty Campbell" pipes, patent them, then tell him to take all references to "Monty Campbell" of his website or you'll sue his ***.

What a pin-head.

I like "Ott-pipes", has nice ring to it.
