Default wheel size on OB with S4 brembo break update ?

Can I still drive with my 16" phone dial's or only the later wheels? It's only in the wither I use the 16", summer I use 17" cup. It's in the workshop now, and wonder if I should bring the 17" rim's

Well, if you "broke" your Brembos, you should prolly get 'em fixed before you try to fit different sized wheels......

S4's originally came with 16" wheels, so unless phone dials have an offset or a drop center clearance problem, I would think they would work. Having no personal experience with this, I hope another lister that has tried will chime in!

Fifteens no. Sixteens yes. I don't believe offset is a problem, just diameter.

I've heard the PDs are close enough to rub when cornering, they didn't have those calipers in mind when they spec'ed them. The issue apparently is not the diameter but the wheel center. Never tried it myself, but there have been posts on the subject over the past couple years if you search.

My 79 has S4 Brembo's with the original PD's (came this way when I bought it). The previous owner put a washer on each stud to space out the wheel - otherwise the inside of the wheel will hit the caliper.

I've switched ti 17's and just ordered a set of 18's so I only ran the car on the first test drive like this. It was used many years on the track like this so I have no reason to think it will not work. Just watch out for wheel weight location.

Thanks HP, that confirms my understanding. How thick were the washers? IIRC spacers are available at least as thin as 5mm, maybe thinner, and IMHO would be stronger than washers.

Not much thicker than a quarter - I was a bit suprised when I found washers on each stud. My 79 also has the "S" rear spacer.

Cool, thanks! Sounds like 2mm+ ought to do it.
