What's this about high mileage? Don't worry about it. Just inspect all the wear parts undermeath.

I had x-over and RMB. IMHO, RMB rumble was perfect. Added x-pipe and it was fine at idle but annoying on the highway. There is a resonance in the x-pipe on the highway the is amplified by the RMB. Oh, it is livable to some, but quite honestly you are annoying everyone. It actually sounds bad. Sounds like a loud, farty coffee can muffler on a Civic. So, I put the rear muffler back one. It's rather quiet now, but it's far preferable to the x-over + RMB.

I always liked the feel of the stock wheel but I couldn't stand the looks, so I went for the 930 wheel, which was a great addition.

The 930 wheel is the winner for me. I also like the Momo Club 4 I have, but the 930 is better and about the same cost. Both look better than less expensive models.

Here's how to install it.

Well so much for my theory that an S-4 should be worth $5,000 more than the early car...But given the plans for this car ...$5,000 is just the downpayment ! Enjoy, looks like a nice car !

So possible exhaust combinations are:

X-over + rmb: most power gain, but maybe too noisy
X-over + stock muffler: Not as aggressive sound as X-over + RMB and less power gain, but liveable
No X-over + rmb: Great sound + moderate gain.

I'd probably just go with the x-over - with the body kit I will have to change the exhuast to dual outs anyway.

What about headers - I understand that they do not hook up to any of the X-overs - correct? Remember I will be boosting this within the next 10 months or so.

Oh yes - thanks for all the kind comments.

I have been told the impact of the stock rear muffler is negligible, but I can't prove it. I noticed no change after putting it back on other than the car got quiet. My burnouts were not affected.

Chris - Rob Roy is just my handle - so no relation. I am from Scotland originally (22+ years in the states). You may know that Rob Roy was an 18th century hero in Scotland (actually he was more of a crook & thief) - my parents have a place in the glen where he was born, lived, and evetually buried (Balquhidder Glen).

Cheers

Bill,

You have the most beautiful burnouts - don't ever change them!
