Since this is the evergoing wheel thread, I'll also post this info here. There has been talk about changing the offset of wheels to make them fit the 928 better. As sort of a base line I measured the 997 18" wheels I just purchased since the stud hole did not look very deep.

The stud hole on the rear et58 wheel is just a tad under 1/2 inch.

bought'm/ with tires. OEM solid spoke. I wanted hollow spokes but i decided the extra price and trying to find them wasnt worth it.
Plus at my "experience level" and the weight of my current wheels i dont really think I would notice the difference..

18x8 fronts et50 w/225/40-18 Continental SC2
18x11 rears et 45 w/295/30-18 Conti SC2

Tony,

I can back that up. I drove Tom's 89 at the Frenzy and during the whole drive I was spinning those tires more than I was not spnning them :-)

Jim, I'm installing a set of 8x18 et56 tonight with 235/40-18 tires on a lowered 79. If these fit, those will not be an issue.

I'm also thinking about buying those wheels for my 81......need to sneek this one past the wife.

The rims are enroute. I havent touched the fenders yet. Everyone seems to say just pull them out by hand...but id rather get the proper tool and flare them.
I know DR has the flare tool sitting on the wall but i think the local part stores have them as well. Ill check next week.
Yeah you can use a BB bat etc etc...but, i really dont want to F it up.
Ill post pics when done for sure.

The RIVAs are still on the car and ive had many ask if im keeping them...Im not sure yet. I may just keep them with a drag radials on the back for the track. I need to spin them and see if they are still true. They have seen a curb and one wheel was trashed which i had to replace. I was getting A LOT of vibration at 75-80 mph from the rear which I had always attributed to a bent rim from my curb excursion...BUT....when i mounted the TOYOs Ra1s i got from Mark for 25 bucks, the vibration is completley gone! I think my tire suffered WAY more than the rim. Plus, the rear Kuhmos were old and tired and i had heard it is a common trate on them when they get worn.
