Imo,

The tensioners were replaced 2 years ago at Devek, along with rear cam seals on both sides...

Bill,

I will let you know about the party... Because the design is different from anything out there, I might do it in stages over a few weekends... So much to do... Still having CAD/CAM drawings modified.. In addition, I'm debating installing a Vacuum Pump in place of the air pump....

Thanks,

Mine only has 116,000. Isn't 170mph at about the rev limiter in 5th?

Correct - I have a 5spd off a GTS... And yes, I have hit the rev limiter in 5th in both the '84 S2 and the '90 GT

Lord NO don't do that!!
Then he might want to actually own a 928 & we'd have to deal with him on a regular basis in our 928 Forum!! Let him stay over with the 944/951 guys giving them a bad name! He's shown his cards as to how he conducts himself & IMHO, he is not worthy of owning a 928! Thinkin as much as some of the 944 guys say that its the Shark owners who dont wave(I do most times, but usually just get a return stare & no wave), He comes across like he'd flip off another Pcar driver if they wern't driving a 951! I know that most 944 owners are great Pcars owners.

I like owning my Shark for all the same reasons everyone here does. But I also enjoy being a part of this great group of world wide Shark owners, who are very much a First Class Act!

I was at the Porsche factory in 2002 and they said they just serviced a 928 withh 700K Km (450K miles). I did not see it or know what work wa sdone it over the years - they said it was running fine

HTML Code:
oh, yes, it is the fastest 928 around the Nurburgring
Is that Alex?
I am sure you were not playing any decent music at the time...

Last year I went to the Porsche Zentrum in Koln - the chief mechanic runs a 1985 S2 5spd with 450,000km on the clock. Naturally it was as good as when it left the factory

As with regards to decent music being played whilst somehow managed to get a quick lap - no, it was more along the lines of Matt saying "Oh ****! Oh ****! That was untidy, mate! Etc. Etc.@" and me saying "Don't worry! I've got it under control! Yeah, right...

So what was the time around the ring? What would the 928 need to break 8 minutes?

Greg,

The only time that I actually filmed a lap and thus discovered what I did I got 8:46 with a stock car. I never set out to get / improve a time simply because I never time myself, that is until I watched a video of myself and got an idea about the lap times...

I had a Richard Armstrong X-Over with expansion chambers instead of the cats and that was it in terms of mods. The car has a new engine and stock brakes with SS lines. The car had a proper hydraulic jack in the boot, a full tool kit, a second toolkit in a carry case. 2ltr of oil, a fire extinguisher, a bag with two cameras and assorted lenses inside and two adults. The tank was around 3/4 full. I also had the full interior. As I have said many times before, the factory Ring time was 8:38, my car's suspension and drive train have 220,000 miles on them... This year I will be in the low 8m with the Ledas and other mods. The car certainly has enough power - 300 at the wheels...

To get below 8m - you need a light car (no interior, light seats, no air con, no stereo, no sound deadening, no glass except at the front) , good suspension and R-tyres. Then that is not that difficult to achieve I think...

For me, I would keep my car street legal and relatively comfortable. It's fast enough to p!ss on a lot of Beetles as it is....
