Stan is a part time tech for us when he's not flying. He got the car 5 months ago after seeking it for quite a while. Since then he has rebuilt the engine, suspension, resealed the transmission (twice), and removed cleaned and reinstalled that beautiful full leather interior. He has done a hell of a lot of cleaning and detailing as well as repairing everything that was marginal. There is a lot more that I haven't included but the car is worth the effort. It's a really cool color combo with a neat history that deserves being preserved.

Resealed the trans TWICE in 5 months... and he's one of your techs?

Dave:

Sat next to Stan at the dinner. Great guy and a real 928 nut.

Finally have a bit of time... let me just say, this community rocks!

From the camraderie, the joking, the great conversations, to the excellent event put together by the organizers, the burnout contest , the incredible fun drive, and all the great moments in between -- the weekend was a whirlwind affair bookended by two 400-mile flights of pure joy(getting there and back). It doesn't get much better than this, though I'm sure that all of the organizers, sponsors and participants will prove me wrong next year.

I'm not in the habit of quoting Carly Simon, but these are the good old days...

Right you are, Dave. It's hard to imagine a better group of car nuts than this.

Oh thanks! Somehow I hadn't made the connection. Yeah, Stan seemed like a great guy. I was kidding and meant no disrespect. Who among us has never had to tear back into a job we thought we just finished? Certainly not me...

It was great to see all of you NORCAL folks again & I'm really looking forward to Tahoe again in June! I know Tim and Cheryl are planning yet another great event . This is a great bunch of car nuts, but also just a great bunch of people, period! I wish we had more events like these during the course of the year, just to keep up the new friendships. See you all in June.

None at all, bolt on and go. No spacers required either, the offsets are perfect. They are 8" & 10" with 225's on front and 265's on the rear. It will handle 285's on the rear with no problem.

Hi All as a side note the trans reseal job may have been flawed before i removed it from the car the first time. Seems that the torque converter bushing that is pressed into the front pump (where the torque converter plugs into the trans) had welded itself to the torque converter after I put it back together, this may have been caused by not lubricatng the bushing before startup, and it may have been caused by the PO not having this done and so started the bushing going bad.

The 997 wheels i have fit great there are no issues, I think they update the S4 very well.

I had a great time at the show, I enjoyed meeting all of the 928ers that showed up and it is pretty cool to put a face with a screen name, I look forward to doing this again, I had a great time at the dinner and as a plus I got an award for the best extrnal finish, heck who knew my car was even getting voted on?. Not Me
Very nice to meet Bill Ball, Heinrich, Dave A. and Shane, Nicole, Ruby, Mark A. and everyone else, thanks for all of the time and energy you all put into this , Stan

Default Bill Ball and my pics...

Another great event thanks to all the hard work of the organizers and sponsors. Always wonderful to see old friends and meet new people to get fresh ideas and goals for our cars. It's what makes these events shine!

My pics of Sharktoberfest 2005 are up. I didn't go wild with tons of shots like I have in previous years (maybe because of the gloomy sky), but they'll give you a taste. I'm working on a very short film that will be up soon as well. Check out my homepage (at bottom) for the pics.

For another angle of Bill Ball's second burn-out, click here and be patient because it's in all it's glory at 37.9 mb. The background comments are great!

Enjoy!

Joe:

Thanks!

The theater fails for me, but here's a direct link to the file:

http://homepage.mac.com/jpriv/.Movie...m_jpriv928.avi

However, I took the 37MB file and compressed it with DivX down to under 3.7MB. To play the file, get the DivX codec here:

http://www.divx.com/divx/download/
(5.2.1 for Mac or the DivX play bundle for Windows - don't need to install the DivX player part of the bundle, just the codec)
