Dan, is it a twin-distributor S? If so check the belt that drives the forward distributor. If it's a single, check the green wire. If you don't have spark, run through this checklist.

Thanks Dave for the link, forgot you had a 928site... It is a US model.
Will go thru the list in the days to come and on the weekend.

Default Update...Fixed

Today, checked the infamous green wire....wigle here wigle there, seem's snog and solid, wire looks fresh...No start.

Decided to go back and "play" with the relays.

Swaped XVII with XV... start & run for 10 sec, click sound from relay stoped.
Swaped XV with XVII... no start
Swaped XVII with XV... no start
Swaped again and bingo; start & run run run run......

Conclusion!? Bad contacts/oxidation from the humidity of winter storage?

Note to self : clean contacts thuroughly(sp)

Thanks for your help.

Like Jim Bailey said, "relay, relay, relay". In your case, it was relay, relay, relay, relay.

French swearing OSTI DE CALISS DE TABARNAC

It's doing the same thing again.
I had the time to do some shopping and when I was ready to leave for work, it died in the driveway.
Will bring all relay to my collegue at work who is an electronic tech.
He will check them for me.....

Will keep you posted.....

You might make some short jumper wires you can use to jump 30-87 in the relay sockets. BUT since your problem appears sporadically, it may be hard to discern which one is bad by trial and error, so having somebody examine them is a good idea. Once might have a burned contact point.

I had a problem similar to this with my 88 S4. Turned out to be a bad connection in the fuse panel. I was able to pull the wires out and solder them up properly and the problem went away and hasnt been back since. Pulling the panel was easy, as was putting it back in, but damn is it scary!

Exactly...will wait for my colegue before I do that but it is my next step.
I will get him to check my FI relay (XVI) as well as the pump (XVII).

Here are the values I have so far : red are my values, black is supposed values

Battery : 11.80v
Fuse panel : 11.55v @ relay plug

Test #5 from WSM : Resistors & Coil test

Resistor : in car & bench test (OHM)
0.4 ohm res. : 0.7 (0.35 - 0.45)
0.6 ohm res. : 0.8 (0.55 - 0.65)

Coil : in car & bench test (OHM)
Primary terminal 1 & 15 : 0.7 (0.33 - 0.46)
Secondary terminal 1 & 4 : 9.2k (7k - 12k)

Guess I need new resistors and coil!?

What you guys say?

Dan: Your battery is rather depleted. I see 12.5 at the post and my battery is not fully charged.

You are right, I had 13 something few weeks ago.....
Would that be a reason for a no start or even stop while running?
What about the the resistors and coil values?

It could, proper voltage is key to your car. It could also be a sign of a possible alternator failing or being very weak or poor connection. Those can certainly cause erratic symptoms as well as no starts and dying.
