I have to be careful H. I hear from Sterling that those crazy bastards in Texas carry guns. Biguns.

Got my new lights!

Clockwise from left: 60mm turn signal/park lamp, old 90mm low beam, 50mm H7, 50mm HID conversion.
Center: H7 bulb, HID H7 bulb

I cheaped out and got the H7 halogen versions*, and then bought some eBay H7 HID 6500K conversion bulbs. (I already had ballasts from an aborted H4 conversion.)**

I did a quick comparison between the different bulbs. The 55W H7's are pretty yellow, and not that bright. The HID conversion bulb retains the cutoff properly, with no hot spots, and the light is awesome. Full moon bright! The old 65W H9's actually compare quite well with the HID.
...

I am going to put the turn signal next to the low beam. (I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Hella clear turn signal is a parking light too.) I imagine I may put 50mm fogs in place of the original turn signals. High beams in the bumper too. They might fit next to the low beams, but I decided to go for the best low beam spread.

Big fab day tommorrow!

* H7 - $106 ea., versus HID - $369 ea.
** There are complete H7 HID conversions for $200 on eBay now!

Clever! I can't wait to see them all nested within your 928 headlamp housing.
Neat update!

Update: I just received my Headlamp Delete Covers from Porken.

Very, Very nice. First-quality parts. I better understand the price now as they are much thicker than I had imagined - they are optically very clear, and look like they will also be tough and durable.

Very well made.

Nice job!

Thanks, Carl. Sorry that the brackets were 'backordered'.
