So far weather wise, it looks like it will be a very comfortable sunny mid 70's weekend. This is perfect weather to spend outside enjoying the 'fest. Welcome to Autumn in so Cal!

ANNOUNCEMENT

We ask that all attendees refrain from trying to get into the 928 Int'l parking lot before 9AM unless your car has been chosen for display. We want to avoid a logistical nightmare in setting up all that we have for folks to enjoy the day. We will have parking directors helping everyone get into position as there will be many cars and we NEED to keep order! We have a plan as to how we want the attendee's cars parked to maximise parking space. PLEASE be patient and listen to the instructions of the parking attendants! If you show up before 9AM or if we are not able to let you in right at 9AM, you can line up against the curb, OUT OF TRAFFIC until we can bring people in SLOWLY in and ORDERLY FASHION!

Your help with this, will help us make for a great day!

THANK YOU!!!

Which day? Friday night, anywhere except the resevered 928 section. Saturday....out on the side of the 57 Freeway There is a lot directly across from 928 Int'l that is for "other" cars. Sunday, well, its gonna be REALLY funny watching you try to hang with a train of 928's.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi Folks,

It looks like we have a change in one of the tech sessions for the event. Instead of a session devoted to Transmissions by Greg Brown of Precision Motorworks, Greg, Mark Anderson, Carl Fausset , Jim Bailey and who knows who else, will be discussing miscellaneous issues over the 928 and will be taking questions from the group. If you still want to ask any questions about transmissions, ask away! This is a great opportunity to get any questions you have, masterly answered by some of the communities best and most knowledgeable. This panel will prove to be of great interest to all who attend. You just never know what things will be discussed!

One more great thing to have at Sharktoberfest!

...man things just keep getting better the closer we get! 2 DAYS!!!!

Bad news my fellow shark friends....

Due to a serious, and I mean SERIOUS mechanical issue on the 944 and time constraints to fix it, I won't be able to attend the drive on Sunday and will yet again miss another Sharktoberfest.

I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and I'm sure a lot of people finally wanted to meet TheStig....I guess it's going to have to wait till next year when my luck is better with my cars at the moment....

back to my office where I can smash my head into drywall now..

Andy, Andy, Andy, you're driving the 928... let the 44' sit in the drive till Monday. Your priorities are skewed, ahhhh, it's that "long drive" that's softened your spine.....

Ty, AJ, and I leave the house at 3:30 AM tomorrow (Friday). Land at John Wayne airport at 9:15 AM PST.

I feel like John Venninger on the rental car issue - I think mine is a Grand Am or some other rent-a-wreck.

Would it be possible to announce/disclose the final point of the Sunday run? I would like to prepare maps ahead of time. Thank you.

Just speculating:

The "Rim of the World" description tells me that we will be driving in the San Bernardino mountains in the Big Bear area. For those looking to go back to the SF Bay area, there are few options. The return ride to 928 Int'l might include Hwy 18, or more exciting/challenging/crowded would be Hwy 330 to intersect I-10 in the Highland area. Take the 330 option to Running Springs, right on 18 to 138 and cross the 15. Las Vegas drivers can split there to go north and home. SF Bay drivers can continue on 138 through Wrightwood and Palmdale, and continue on until they join I-5 near the top of the Grapevine. This may not be the quickest route, but it is certainly the most fun in a sports/GT car.

Otherwise, the tour will probably bring you back down into the basin on I-10 somewhere between Redlands and San Bernardino, from where you can go west to intersect I-5 near downtown LA. Option: Divert north from I-10 on I-15 or the 57 to pick up I-210 just a few miles away, take 210 west to intesect I-5 well past the downtown LA mess.

It's autopilot from there on I-5 north. Keep the radar detector set on stun, though.

I'll be home late tonight so wan't make the reception, but plan to see you all on Saturday morning for the Big Show. Travel Safe!
