DYNO RESULTS - 928SP Modular Crossover Pipe System (First Session)
Hi Guys,
Finally got coordinated with my dyno guy for a half day of testing our new Modular Crossover system.
The chart is below, but first a few comments.
All testing was done the same day, 2 pm thru 5:30 pm.
Testing was done on my stock 90 GT, 106k miles with only an RMB, no adjustable fuel pressure regulators, no tuning, absolutely no changes at all.
Total of 12 dyno runs were made with only the time needed to unstrap, put it on a lift to change each exhaust component and strap it back on the dyno.
Of note I was very disappointed in my GT's stock dyno results and later tested with my Hammer to find bad knock sensors and I assume some other issues. Time for that intake removal I have been planning!!
All numbers are SAE corrected Rear Wheel Max HP/Torque
Factory Cats ------------------------ 271.28 HP, 275.62 Torque
Modular Crossover With Cats ----- 290.28 HP, 282.90 Torque
Modular Crossover without Cats -- 295.29 HP, 285.02 Torque.
Of note, there is no doubt that more power can be had with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and ignition tuning, especially with no cats as it was obviously leaning out on the upper RPMs. However in all fairness I wanted to give true "A" to "A" results instead of results with other ignition or fuel tuning to maximize the dyno results. Once my GT is back to perfect health I plan to do more runs and also runs with fuel pressure tuning only via our Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulators.

David:
Two questions:
Still can't believe how cheap the cats are. You sure there's actually something inside those puppies?
Two questions:
- Your website says "We expect to be shipping these in approx. 6 weeks." I think it said the same thing a few weeks ago when I last checked. I'm beginning to suspect that the "6 weeks" is not going to be counting down as I hoped. Seriously, when do you expect these to ship?
- If I add my name to the list, how much longer after "first shipments" will I have to wait? (ballpark, of course)

Hi Ed,
>Two questions:
>Your website says "We expect to be shipping these in approx. 6 weeks." I >think it said the same thing a few weeks ago when I last checked.
Sorry I haven't gotten that Product paged completed or even updated yet. I was waiting to get the dyno results first. I will update that page this week.
>I'm beginning to suspect that the "6 weeks" is not going to be counting down >as I hoped.
Yes it is still couting down from the original time, which was orginally estimated for the first of August.
> Seriously, when do you expect these to ship?
I was informed Friday that my Aug 1st deadline will not be met, BUT I should have my initial shipment in the first or second week of August and they will ship immediately.
>If I add my name to the list, how much longer after "first shipments" will I >have to wait? (ballpark, of course)
See above, IF you get one ordered in time to make the first production run. Even if you miss that one we hope to have production runs done monthly or less.
>And thanks for getting back to us with dyno figures and not having multiple >variables changing. Refreshingly informative.
No problem, I don't know of any other fair way to test products than to have "0" variables.
>Still can't believe how cheap the cats are.
I will honest with you, when my builder gave me initial costs he was under the influence of major pain killers from a motorcycle wreck and I too questioned the low cost of the cat option. However, he is a man of his word and will stick to the pricing on the initial production even if he was wrong.
>You sure there's actually something inside those puppies?
Those are the same Cats we have been using and selling for many years and they flow better than any cat for the $$$. These dyno results clearly show this.

Hey Dave:
I had a "rear knock sensor broken" and "hall sensor signal missing" error message on the Spanner this weekend. Turned out the plug for the rear sensor had come loose and caused both faults. It's under the passenger side fuel rail. Quick fix, if you're lucky like I am.

Hi Greg,
>What is a modular exhaust system, is it the X pipe?
See photos here ( product details coming this week)

Thanks for the tip, I will look at that when the intake comes off this week or next week.

Hi Dave,
those results are fantastic!! 24 hp for $499.00 is a great deal. My hats off to you for the great design success.
My questions are do you think the gains will be similar for the 85/86 S 32 valve model?.
Also I am currently running the Autothority two chip system. Will this combo with your modular cross over pipe surfice for the fuel tunning you spoke of ?.
I pre-ordered the modular pipe about two days after your sharks in the mountain event. Will i be in the first round of shipments?.
Regards Rich

Hi Gretch,
>DR the connector is attached to the fuel rail. Take the fuel rail cover off and you will see it....but i >gotta believe you prolly already know this.
Yep, I think I have seen those a time or two :-) Oh, don't forget the other one which is located by the Flappy valve switch.
>BTW, great results, can't wait to get mine....prolly need new cats anyway....wot a deal!!!
THANKS!!! and DOUBLE thanks for trusting me enough to pre-order one before the dyno results, that means a lot to me!

Thanks to you TOO!!

I would anticipate just as good of a gain with your 85-86, especially with the chips.
>Will this combo with your modular cross over pipe surfice for the fuel tunning you spoke of ?
There is never a true replacement for a fine tuning device such as the Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator to tune your engine to maximize the output given it's current conditon and/or mods.

You will be in the first round for sure.

I was wondering this myself. I ordered one a few weeks ago, can hardly wait !
