OK perhaps I should say that a bit louder---> CAN YOU SAY... CTS-V?

I think the as far as getting there fast and in style this GM is scooping in on the marketplace that Porsche abandoned in 1995 and does not (allegedly) plan to re-enter until 2009

Perhaps the alignment was out of spec or the suspension was 'dinged'; sometimes it's as simple as that.

Agreed; that goes for any car.

What's really funny about this whole reliability thing is how many people own a second 928 and use it as a parts car?

I was at Road America July 11-12 2005 in my Z06 with PCA Nord Stern, and based upon my previous best of 2:45 (..completely stock), they put me in the fast-class Group 4 (..I was a little concerned since I've been on a track at speed only two times before). There were 31 cars in the class including 8 GT3's.

My car was still stock except for a set of used Kumho V710's; my best timed lap was 2:36:11 which I'm really pleased about. For perspective, Kibort's best lap at Road America last September was during the race at 2:34:9 in the Holbert racecar; I believe he still owes Joe Fan a bottle of Dom for not hitting a predicted 2:30.

What really made me feel good though was the GT3 guys giving me props, and could not believe that my car was stock except for a set of tires. I passed plenty of GT3's, except for a black one who went by me like I was standing still; wow, what a car and driver!

My point being, here is a GM car I paid $47k for, going foot-to-foot with Porsche's best production track-car (..like GM's Z06), for less than half the money. Comments like goodspeed928 are so short-sighted.

As a matter of fact, this post sums up my thoughts:

I can tell you this right now. My 1983 Buick T-Type turbo would smoke 98% of the porsches out there, and i got more thumbs-ups and waves driving that from other motorists and pedestrians than my 928 ever has.

Stop being a snob, it's very unnatractive. You sound like one of the 911 snobs that talk down about 928s.

By the way, the 385hp GT3 will slightly pull my 405hp Z06 on a straight-away; I was VERY impressed with an already impressive car (..the GT3)!

The only problem with the old saying when applied to the 928, is that it's been standing still for 10 years, and now there are a number of sedans that can out-perform and out-comfort it, with 4 people legitimately.

Based on current prices, I'm not sure anything comes close, though.

Just think of all the catalougs you could open for a vette and say " I want that" or "this"....

'course, with tim murphy, devek, 928intl, and 928spec, its almost the same now for us.

Pretty much every bicyclist gets two catalogs - Colorado Cyclist and Excel Sports. My buddies and I refer to them as "bike ****."

I owned a similar car a couple of years ago. I had a 2002 Z28 Camaro. I always felt like the car was driving me instead of me driving the car. Lots of power and very fast as long as you just want to drive in a straight line.

Apples and oranges would be comparing a boat next to a 928. I find myself on the track all the time with F-Body GM vehicles so I find it a very valid comparison. Its nice to see a 928 owner’s perspective from behind the wheel.

Not quite a stock "Neon" - it is turbocharged and 0-60 is not 5 seconds but "around 5.8 seconds."
http://www.dodge.com/srt-4/

Still, a fast car for $21K!!

By the way, to trash very good American muscle just seems . . well . . . un-American!

2 weeks ago, I had the 'priviledge' of running down the interstate @ triple digits with an new Audi WAGON (NICE ride!) and a ~'03-04 Mustang GT...The Audi was QUITE stable at speed....the 'stang....well...I backed off quite a ways from that thing...it was QUITE squirrelly - even in a STRAIGHT LINE with every tiny dip or gust of wind....I was SURE he was gonna lose it several times!

You gotta remember that by 100mph a Mustang is usually done the race. 1/4 mile cars are set up completely differently, with about zero thought being put into high speed stability(unless of course they're very fast 1/4 mile cars and trap out well over 100mph).

WOW some of you guys need to pull your heads out of your asses, im sry but all cars break and some dont corner well. WOW big deal, i know i wanted to sell my car for a mustang. if you are to call yourself a car lover then learn to respect all types. i can sit here and bash 928s or i can bash my 944 or my 911. but i dont, because i respect them all for what they are. i will say for the cost you can make a trans am or mustang out handel a porsche, but how much will it cost to mod a porsche or even do normal stuff?? i know i just dropped 3k on a clutch when i could have done my own but im happy i kept the 911 tho i still respect other cars

I wasn't 'dissing' the Mustang - just simply stating what I witnessed!
