"This body is going to need some lovin' care."

I'd say the whole car is going to need some lovin! How sad.

Someday I wouldn't mind taking on a project like that, but something with the engine included. But someday isn't anytime near now.

And - the price isn't ANYWHERE near what it should be.

Even RIXTER wouldn't touch it for 20% the opening bid price!!!

He's obviously way off on price - but I'd say it's worth more like $0.10 on the dollar ($250) than $0.01 on the dollar ($25).

But definately not a crack based pricing - just a slightly uneducated one. If you didn't know much about Porsches $2500 would seem reasonable. After all a 911 of that year in that condition would probably go for more. And 928s are more rare the 911s. And we all know 928s are better cars too.

So if that's all you're going by then the price wouldn't seem so far off.

But, unfortunately, it is.

The body seems straight, it has the S4 suspension and brakes, interior color and condition seem OK other than the steering wheel and dash. I think there might be a buyer @ $2500. Time will tell.

Actually, today I just had thoughts about this kind of projects. Why not take the early 928s in a bad shape, put some money in them, restore to the original glory, tune them(SC?) and then sell like for 30000$? Point is that if the car is restored right, it is going to run for a long time, going to be a lot safer then Japanese analogs for same money, 2005, going to be a lot faster and handle better. And this way we will be able to prolong the overall life of 928 as a class. What so you think?
P.S. It is preffered that the car has engine in it.
However, I have one which I am currently restoring, and I will sooner sell my soul then this baby when I will restore it.

Because, Klim, there is no chance ... no matter what you do to the car ... that you will EVER get that money for an early 928. Ever.

What if you sign a 3 year warranty and give them the official numbers for a 1/4 mile?

I saw that ad last nite, it's an hour away.. if it doesn't sell I may go down and make him an offer
but it will DEFINATELY be under $2500 and will most likely be in the $5-800 range
upgrade suspension/brakes, good body panels
