Default Linda at DEVEK Rules!!

I've been trying to get the shop manuals for a while now. There was a set on EBay. I bid double the auction price at the time - so my bid was something like $370.

Well..wouldnt you know - last 4 seconds I get sniped by $5.

Sent a nice note to DEVEK, and Linda sent me a note back saying she found a set for me, and she gave me a price less than the sniper paid on EBAY.

I wont get into what losers snipers are, cause this is about Linda and how she helped me out. THANKS LINDA!!!

Anyway - I also bought the rear muffler I needed for my 928.

Thanks again.

Curt...Curt...Curt....

You need to stay on the R'list more. All 3 of the "Big 3" just got a boatload of the latest WSM's and are selling them for MUCH LESS then your ebay bid! (As low as $199!!!)

Nonetheless - It is great that the Big 3 support the shark kingdom!

Curt you need to spend more time on this list ..The manuals have been available for$229 or less the past few weeks. We still have inventory. Porsche North America still has stock but when they are gone this time they really will be gone. The whole point behind an AUCTION is to let the highest bidder WIN and the highest bidder is the LAST bidder but as your example points out just because it is an auction it does not mean it is a good or fair price simply what some people are willing to pay !

Curt, I think the guy's and gal's at DEVEK are the greatest too!

FWIW, snipping is just a good way of keeping the price of items on EBay Reasonable!

Bid wars are for people with more dollars than sense!

EBay Snipers rule!

I never bid on an item on ebay until the last 10 seconds...then I bid the max that I am willing to pay for it.

I bid a maximum of 2x on ebay. If someone out beats me: Good luck, you are the "winner". Most likely I will find a similar item a few days later and I may end up paying less for it. Ebay is full of surprises.

OK, I'm going to throw out my standard eBay disclaimer. eBay is no different than shopping anywhere else in the sense that you should do some homework first, which includes reading everything on this message board, calling the Big 3, and searching Froogle before you bid. I've gotten many great deals on eBay, including my 89 S4, except for the time I jumped on a lighted keyhead only to learn a couple of days later from Susan at DEVEK (DEVEK's main momma) that they sold the same items for $5 less. Boy, did I feel dumb. I was no longer a newbie and should have known better.

Actually, for you eBay worked perfectly. You put in a reasonable bid in your mind and some dolt outbid you. You showed the proper fiscal restraint that he did not. Good going!

And, it should go without saying, when it comes to 928 parts, buy from the Big 3 every chance you can. You may find something slightly cheaper by hunting around elsewhere, but you won't get the same level of support, technical help and general customer service, as I think you just learned.

I beg to differ?

I agree that we need to give our business to the Big-3. We need to keep them in the business of supplying our parts to us. I admit that I usually only use one of them, but at least I am keeping it in the family!
