WorkShop Manual Elect. Schematics - anyone need usage notes?
Alan,
I've been following this with some interest. Is this intended to approximate one of those books like "928 Wiring for Dummies"? If so, I'm your man! Send one to glennb928s "at" telus.net. if you think I might help.

Glenn..........the intention is to somewhat simplfy as much as possible the 928 WSM wiring diagrams while at the same time provide some basic electronic teachings. Also we are bringing the wiring diagrams up to date as far as current recognised electrical symbols and descriptions..............stay tuned.

Yeah,
No dummies allowed!
Really the idea is to demystify / explain whats there in the FWM esp Wiring Diagrams - for those that really want to understand them. Its assumed you may not know too much to start with but are willing to think a bit... Its never really easy! Pitched to be useful with not too much knowledge - but smart enough to learn and for those who just need to understand the conventions better. It is assumed you have a copy of the FWMs - if not get them - its hopeless without!
It will also have some enhancement ideas and common procedure "How To" sections.
I've done a bunch of things to my car that I'll outline - but others will contribute too - navigation system installs, lighting upgrades, Keyless entry/alarms etc etc...
Rich Andrade has sent me an excellent section on fuel & spark engine control I hope to include, others have volunteered to write sections also... Its a work in progress. Jim Morehouse will likely include a version of this on the CD sets he produces...
Glenn I'll send you a copy...

For the record, I do have the FWM and Jim Morehouse's CD set. Fire away!

Alan,
I have just completed the insallation or reinstallation on a 87 S4, of the front wirring harness, the dash wiring harness, engine wiring harness, AT transmission harnes and one of the ABS harness's and have spent time with the diagrams, if you need some additional help either with pic's or review, let me know.

Non, nein, nyet .... so far.
A random thought, but a possible addendum to the electrics could be the bypass/elimination/jumpering of select systems that can disable the car when least expected: Maybe there are too few to qualify, but one that comes to mind is a bypass jumper for the factory alarm system ( on plug Z ?). Are there others of this type - or perhaps enough to create a short crib sheet for the glove box.
Alan, not intended to add to your massive task - just thinking out loud .. for if there are such tricks, we can assemble them here ( or in a seperate thread).
