If you cant find OEM hoses or you need a diffent length you can do this....if you find a shop willing to do fuel hoses. Ive heard some folks have had trouble finding them?
Cut the fitting off and have a new hose crimped on. I found the hoses to be VERY tough, but any flexing and it didnt take much to crak them.

Wow! Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It certainly could have been worse, glad no personal damage was realized. Singed hair will regrow and cars are rebuildable. (I'm still convincing myself of that!)

Egad! Those are some frightening pics. That fire was pretty ferocious, melting a lot of metal before you managed to extinguish it. Very instructive lesson for the rest of us.

Bumping up the fuel pressure can hasten the eventual failure of rubber fuel hoses. I pumped 1/4 of a tank of gasoline onto the top of a 914 engine when one injector hose burst, how and why it never caught on fire is a total mystery to me. Car behind me on the freeway waved me over he said he could hardly drive behind me the gasoline vapors were so thick. Very sorry to hear of Shane's misfortune. Although I did offer him an 86 1/2 5 speed car as a "replacement" Get bucked off the horse and it is best to get right back in the saddle ! Nice to see the offers of some replacement parts for the rebuild Capt. Earl has proven that it can be done! It just takes TIME.

Wow!! Here I was just trying to motivate others to check their fuel lines! You guys are an awesome group, and I thank you all for the well wishes and offers for support. It is truly heart warming. It looks pretty bad and I'll have to do some more investigating but I think I can fix it. I just need an industrial sized buffer and it should buff right out. Thanks for the tip about the corrosiveness of the dry chemical. I'll shove it out of my shop and pressure wash it all off. Unfortunately for me I only have vacation till the 18th then it is back to Alaska. I will work on her as I can over the upcoming vacations, but for the rest of this one, I have to finishing supercharging my 5sp. Then I can take a step back and evaluate what I need for repairs.

Sorry to hear the news Shane.

Rather than carry a fire extingusher, I chose to replace the fuel lines prematurely, however this came at a substantial price. Not including tax and shipping, here's what I paid, but prices have probably gone up since then.

What Tony has shown in his photo, are the barb fitting, thin wall pressure hose, and rubber outer cover/insulator. Not shown is the outer ferrule.

The fitting barb size is suitable for 5/16" fuel injector hose, however the tight hose routing on the S4/GT/GTS, makes, in my opinion, only one hose suitable for hose substitution, so I chose to replace all with new Porsche fuel lines.

That's tough, good job getting it cleaned up. I got nervous a few months ago and replaced the top 2 culprits, whew!
