Default He wants what???? (low mileage GTS)

Has anyone seen the $87000 928 GTS on autotrader. Granted the miles are low, actually almost non-existant, but $87000? I hope someone wants it really bad!

A perfect example of what someone "wants" not being remotely close to "reality" Anything short of the PearlGlanz car is not worth that price! If the PearlGlanz car came up for sale...assuming great condition and low mileage.... I think that price would be a bargin!

It's worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay. Clean, old Corvettes and other muscle cars routinely go for more at Barrett-Jackson. It sounds like a collector's car as opposed to a driver's car. I hope he gets the asking price.

Hey Garrett! Long time, no see.

Anyway, it's a '95 - last model year, manual tranny, side moulding delete, and only 6K miles. If it's truly in pristine condition all around, he might get close to what he's asking. He just needs to find someone who's really got the bug to own the best of the best.

most likely the seller is indifferent about selling it. he/she probably doesn't need the money, isn't sure they want to get rid of it, but if someone wants to give me a huge amount, then yeah, i'll sell it.

Make no mistake, I sincerely hope that he gets it. I hate to see such a fine auto just sit around. Like 81 Shark said, if money were no object, there wouldn't be much discussion since it would be parked in my driveway, as would a pristine example of every other year available. That brings us back to reality, the reality of some VERY high monthly notes to contend with. Oh well, I guess if you stop dreaming you start dying....now where did my checkbook get off to? Whats up Bigs?? Been pretty busy over this way and haven't had much time to stay up on things here. How goes it? Anyway, getting ready to head to the beach for a week. I just need to figure out how to get the wife, the child, and everything that we own and could possibly have any need for in the 928. The cover will have to go back on and pile the whole shebang into the Montero. Take care everyone!

This car has been out there for at least a few months now. This is the way I look at it......

Just like real estate, homes, etc........you have to put a "reasonable" time frame limit on the sale for it to be considered a "normal" sale of a 928 GTS. Most GTSs that trade hands do so on a daily basis via normal avenues such as traderonline, cars.com, ebay, and several other internet sites, local PCA clubs, etc. Most of them don't bring near the prices we would like to see.

Now take this car......a nice low mileage car with a very lofty price. If the seller is willing to wait 1 or 2 years (or more) for a buyer to come along and pay this price.......great for him, but in my mind this would not be a normal GTS sale. I would bet that most people who want to sell a GTS are not able or willing to wait this amount of time to sell it.......if they are great, hopefully it just doesn't sit around the whole time.

How many 928 owners out there would be willing to wait years to get a very high price? Most 928 sellers I know are usually trying to move on to something different or want to move up the 928 ladder or maybe even the Porsche ladder. They usually are not willing to wait years to sell their car.
Life is short, time is money.

Will this car sell for the amount asked?.......most likely not. If the seller is willing to negotiate over time it may sell sometime in the distant future at a much lower but still respectable price. If he's not willing......he will just sit on it and may tuck it away again for a few more years and try the same thing again later......seen this *many* times. If it's fine with them, it's fine with me......but this is not considered a normal seller by any means. If you put something up for sale......you usually want to sell it in a reasonable time.....right?

Just be careful about speeding. You know how brutal the highway patrol can be!
