Here in Northern California I had good luck with All Star Glass - they even had the glass in-stock. I don't think they are in Texas, but my point is just call around to local glass shops. Some of the ill-informed will tell you they can get factory glass (Sigla) at decent prices. They are wrong, but it can take them a week or two to confirm they cannot get it after all. Sigla glass from Porsche is $1K. Ask for aftermaket glass. My last windshield was PGI, but I believe Pilkington also makes glass for the 928. Installed cost should be less than $300.
There are variable reports about availability of antenna-in-glass. The glass shop should ask you upfront whether you have and want that and the color of your tint band (commonest is green, but some are bronze).
The other error is that some will tell you they need the Porsche windshield installation kit and will have to order that from Porsche. Again, they are wrong - they should use the now standard urethane sealant dispensed from a tube rather than Porsche's obsolete material.

$145 installed - wow! Lowest I've heard yet. First time I paid $350, then $280. I've heard others get $250 and I recall someone found a place in SoCal that was less than $200. Amazing.

I had a company in Santa Clara install one with the antenna in the glass and they did a ho-hum job and misaligned my trim, and even cut the A pillar leather with a tool they used to remove the original glass. It was around $350 but insurance paid for it. I asked them to repair the cut leather piece and they agreed to to it but I would need to remove it and bring it in. That was impossible without first removing the garbage JustDashes dashboard in my car that now belongs to Devek, because the dash was so misaligned and out of proportion that I could not remove the A pillar piece alone. When I change dashes this month, I will replace the cut piece with one from another car that I have. Watch the installers and point out the dangers of being too casual in their work. I'm all for not wasting time, but sometimes just a little thought before acting prevents sloppy work like was performed on my car.

I know someone that just recently purchased an OEM not far from you (south of Dallas), and they paid $200.00. I'll call him and see if the source has any more and post or pm you the info.

When you buy the glass and have it shipped ... shipping is a bit expensive too, you have GOT to see the shipping box. You could practically drive over it and the glass would be OK.

Are bronze windshields available at all? The '80 has had it's windshield replaced with a green or no tint cheapie.
If not, I might see about swapping my '81 windshield, and changing to green glass (and acrylic) on it.
BTW: my green windshield is made by 'Safevue', the bronze 'Viracon'.
