Default Wanted: Black/White NOS Pasha Checkerboard Fabric for Resto

[IMG]Yes, I know this is a hard one to find, but I would love to find enough NOS Pasha of the neutral Black/White checkerboard op art fabric to do my 79 interior: Seats and door panel inserts. Thanks for any help/sympathy.

You know, when I saw this upholstry for the first time in the seventies when the 928 was introduced, I couldn't believe it. Tasteless is not the right word. Trying to hard to be cutting edge is closer but even at the time, Op Art was ten years past cutting edge. It was an odd choice and not hip but now all that stuff is not that important and I have to celebrate the factory for it's daring. The 928 was pretty experimental from the start and the love/hate thing that goes with it most likely played a big part in how it was received. Famed photographer Brett Weston bought a silver one right away and named it "Brancusi" after the famed sculpter. My one worry at the time was wondering if looking at the Pasha might cause motion sickness while flying through some sweepers....

I wish I could help you, but I can't. I had an 80 that had that fabric all over the rear behind the seats and on the seat inserts and the side door panel inserts. It was not a car you wanted to be in with a hangover thats for sure.

Good Luck

Yikes! My worst fears confirmed! I'm getting the spins just thinking about it! An inside joke from the designers, perhaps. They came up with the idea after a few schooners at the watering hole across the street from the factory. No doubt it degraded to a challenge to see who could hold the most beer and still ride in the car (as a passenger, of course) on a mountain road and not do the big spit. If I'm "lucky" enough to find the material, I'll be sure to keep some Dramamine in the glove box for emergencies. Thanks for your input Anthony!

I think you're going to have a problem finding that material.. best be is probably to talk to someone at a fabric shop or tailor... I heard a story about someone that found an old tablecloth that was an exact match but not sure if it was true or not..
let me know what you find as I am searching as well

I thought there was some place in the UK that had some, check out the adverts in 911 and Porsche World.

Try here - www.lemansoriginalfabrics.com. Also, the last time I checked (11/02) you could buy the pasha op-art cloth from Dave Nunn in the UK. Hs email is southbound@ukgateway.net and the cost was 59.50 pounds sterling per meter plus shipping.

THANKS EVERYBODY! Yes, Dave Nunn does have 2 shades of material left and only some scraps of the neutral gray I need for my car. He is doing his best to find me some and is a great person to deal with. If you all need warmer, brown bias material, he has some as well as some warm light color with the darker color a blue shade. If anyone is interested, I can scan the samples I have and send you a copy. Just let me have an email address to send JPEG files to.

I need to recover the front seats in my '79 euro, recover a spare set of op-art front seats, and redo an entire '78 euro in the op-art. All 3 different types though! My '79 is the green type with white stripes...
