SHARKwork just got easier - MY NEW LIFT IS HERE!
After agonizing for over a year - and finally realizing I just had NO clearance for a 2-poster....I ordered my scissor lift from Harbor. Picked it up at the freight dock last night.
THANK GOODNESS FOR MY CHERRY PICKER - or I'd NEVER gotten it off the back of my truck.
Works great - Now I have NO excuse to get all my maintenance finished!
(EDIT! - I cropped a lot of the garage junk - NYA NYA NYA, Randy!)

GEEZ Randy - are you related to my ex-wife? You sound so much like her!! - LOL
Yea - I've just had so much going on. In reality - it's not QUITE as bad as it looks in the pic.

Cool. Tell us more about the lift when you've gotten a chance to use it some.
What's the locking mechanisim like? Does it lock at mutiple heights?
How stable does it feel?

The locking mech is a spring loaded 'catch' with a cabled remote release on the hydraulic pump stand - like a motorcycle brake handle. It DOES lock at multiple heights, and the arms/pads have a wide range of adjustments. Depending on which end of the car youre working on, you can adjust the base fore and aft some for easier access..
It feels QUITE stable. Nonetheless - in the interest of safety - I am leaving the jackstands in place on each corner!
Here's the link to it on the Harbor Freight site. Although the specs say it is 220v - mine came wired and ready for 110v! It'll lift to the full 39" height in about 30 seconds!

The pump stand has wheels, and it hooks to the end of the lift. You tilt the stand and it lifts that end a bit - and there are big steel rollers on the other end of the lift from the tank. It'd be nice to fix up some kind of pulley system on the wall so it could rest on it's side - and not take up much room. It is moveable - but "easily" is not a word I would use to describe it! It's not THAT bad, tho. I intend just to leave it in place, and park right over it!
Not sure how Harbor does it - but the shipping was only a $20 premium for a "truck shipped item" on top of their standard $8.99! It included home delivery by the trucking co., but I didn't want to wait for them to bring it to me next week! Thus - why I picked it up at the terminal last night.

I've looked at the lift for a long time. It is a bargain price. The shipping charge is so negligible they should make it free.
Did you ask for 110 or is that just an error in the ad? Also, my main reservation with scissors, except for the dual scissor types (much more expensive), is that they block the center making exhaust, torque tube work, and checking the flexplate impossible. What do you think?

You are right about those 'center-of-the-car' items - not really suited for exhaust/TT work. BUT - for the 90% of what I do - it is a LOT easier. EX - changing all 4 tires on the 951 took about 10 minutes! And - for the MM/Str rack/pan/etc stuff I am doing now - I could dang near sit on a recliner under there!

Mark: Thanks for the clarification. This is a great lift for 90% of usual maintenance and repairs, as you say. All those nights lying on cold concrete with the bottom hanging 5 inches above my nose have been torture. This is way better than that. Have fun.

It really is a substantial piece of equipment - ESPECIALLY given the price - under a grand - delivered!
